And if you only value your head at 18 quid then buy this no name peice of tat..... and as for the 'was' price of £73, thats a joke. As if any self respecting biker would pay £73 for this.

Whilst all helmets sold in the UK have to meet the same safety standards, I'm also thinking I'd avoid this one. I know cost != quality but I'd want a tried and tested make myself.

WARNING- likely to offend all who spend their freetime sat on high horses............

If you only get what you pay for, does this mean that if I offer them a million quiid for this helmet I will be able to strap it on, jump out an aeroplane, land on my head and survive????

Sorry but Its nonsense to suggest that the difference in quality between helmets is always reflected in the price.

Furthermore, I really dont think you are going to notice the difference if the helmet gets a proper test while being worn, as a large amount of motorcycle head impacts result in decapitation anyway.

Anyhoo, nice find op, I am sure it is of use to someone on a limited budget.

I did say cost != quality, meaning not equals. Soz if that wasn't clear, force of habit as I'm a programmer.

I've had 4 crashes, and am yet to let my head impact the floor. Saying that I still have a new helmet, and a few scars. I'm probably over cautious though, I won't ride without my full gear on (jacket/trousers/boots/gloves/helmet).

4 crashes. I think your God is trying to tell you something. Been riding for over a decade and no issues for far. I think you should use this function:

UpdateCommonSense()
{
if (numCrashes > 3)
ASSERT(false);
}

Lol, I was 17 and stupid! Actually crash is too strong a word, as I always managed to get out of a collision - I just dropped the bike doing so and sometimes at speed.

I am now 33, and own a much more restrained vehicle. Been incident free for nearly half my life :D

You are right, I bourht one of this for the same offer, I also have £400 Arai helmet,it cost five and half time more "rrp",but for sure not five and half time better, over half of it pay for the name,please don't value this helmet for £18, it should vaule at £70,I got six helmets all together, this is the cheaper one I have, but far better then some of £100 one, helmet do protect you head, if you not riding sensible thats mean you only have the head remain in onepiece.

I do a lot of trackdays in cars - this sort of thing is perfect for that where it costs £10 a time to hire one.

Why would anyone with a £400 Arai want to go out and buy a crappy plastic helmet???????

Sounds about as dodgy as his grammar!

As a biker for the last 29 years I wouldn't go out using a cheaper helmet. There are lots of idiots out on the road and no matter how good a rider you are you will meet one of them one day. Personally I value my head and think it's worth investing not only in stronger components but also in the better design features that the bigger brands offer.

It's not ideal to buy a helmet that you haven't tried on.

Good for go-karting maybe ? I crashed with full head impact on the ground wearing a £50 *new but been on the shelf* AGV and it did the job, so I wouldn't write it off completely. I wouldnt wear it on the bike, but ACU gold does give it a little bit of credence, as said before possibly enough for slower go-karts / monkey bikes ? The main problem with these helmets is not the fact they wont stand up to an impact more than the internal pads / strapping mechanisms are not the greatest so the helmet moves around the head and in some circumstances could quite feasibly come off, hence the above poster who advises to try on a helmet before you buy it, the large 59-60 I use on AGV was looser than the 59-60 I now have on my Shoei.

p.s. biker for 13 years.

I am not said it better or as good as Arai, but not as bad as you think , the good thing is need not worrying scratch, very handy for a local run, you mean some one own a ferrari could not have a mini at the same time do you, I ride motorcycle since 1988, I own 900 cc yamaha and a 50cc scooter.
