Are these any good for the money? Was looking at the Saracen deal the other day, am I better off with that for rec riding?

The Saracen is definitely worth the extra but these aren't bad for the money, the RRP is total fiction however.

£129 on the site now :-(

Don't trust halfords prices! Shop around! Also says £129 on website

Optimistically wondered if this was better than my aging 2010 Ridgeback Speed. Nope. RRP £300 with gripshift shifters? Pfft. =/

I got a dual suspension mountian bike for work which quite frankly is far too heavy for me especially in terms of speed and going up hills, I wonder if this would suit my needs?
#8
If it's all decent roads and its not an expensive mtb then you will much prefer it, though as ever you get what you pay for with bikes - my experience of these halfords bikes is that they are ok.

probably not, for this money you could get a second hand marin or equivalent off ebay / gumtree which would be a far better purchase. If you're on tarmac then just get a cheap roadbike.

And what disadvantage does a trad style headset have for Joe Bloggs? Far easier to adjust stem height than taking an aheadset apart.

For 99 quid you're taking a gamble on something used and not everyone wants to be hunched over drops!

This deal is back on, with a further 10% off until next Monday (18th August 2014). So £89.10 now?
