Found this at HMV, Another top movie, Do not let the subtitles put you off, The first time I seen this in the cinema I sh#t myself! Good buy at this price.

High-concept Spanish horror film REC employs the same 'amateur' handheld camera technique as THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and, more recently, CLOVERFIELD, to create a heightened sense of realism and terror. Local TV reporter Angela (Manuela Velasco) and her cameraman are covering the night shift at a Barcelona fire station when they are called out to help an old woman trapped in her apartment. This routine call is soon revealed to be anything but, when events take a horrific turn. After breaking down the door, the team find the woman seemingly possessed and rabidly aggressive. As it becomes clear that the danger is not merely confined to the woman's apartment, Angela, her cameraman and those unfortunate to be trapped inside the dark building find themselves desperately scrambling to escape, despite outside efforts to contain them.
The film is co-directed by Jaume Balaguero (DARKNESS) and Paco Plaza, who also share writing credits with Luis Berdejo. The hyper-realism of the teams' script and frenzied direction ensure that the viewer is on edge throughout, with dread lurking down every hallway and around every corner. A huge cult hit in its native country, REC has already spawned an American remake, QUARANTINE (2008) and received much-deserved widespread critical acclaim.

Very good movie. Well worth a purchase. Watch out for the falling fireman!:w00t:

Great film a million times better than the naff American version that they churned out. Plus REC 2 is even better than the first.

Well worth watching.

I watched it the other day on Sky movies......Loved it, best horror film I've seen in ages.
#5
Superb film - you won't be disappointed!

And it's not really a "horror" film - more a brilliant thriller with a few bloody scenes.

The more popular American film Quarantine (2008) was a Remake of this film

This is much better

The last 10 mins or so are just on another level of horror.

I love this film.

Excellent film and a great price. Voted hot.

Didn't enjoy Rec 2 as much, but watched this one several times. Much much better than the American remake.
#11
Agreed , quality film and Rec2

Not really into horror/thriller stuff, but this is an excellent film. Thought I was going to have a heart attack near the end!

Great film. Went and saw [rec]2 at the weekend and wasn't disappointed!

Well worth £3.99.

Yup great film.
Heard today that there are gonna be 2 more sequels. The first is a prequel really, telling the story of how the infection starts and the second goes into what happens when the infection spreads! Yikes and coolness.

Must be true, it's on Wiki!

Might be worth seeing if these are still on offer.

Very good film and worth putting up with the subtitles, much better and more atmosperic than the American remake called Quarantine.

You can get quarantine from Currys on Blu Ray for around £6 at the moment. Basically it's a remake of this with better special effects!

no, it's a remake of this but in english, the special effects in this are ion par with most hollywood horror films of recent years.

i'd never recommend quarantine over this, it'd be like recommending Gus Van Sant's version of Psycho over Hitchcock's purely because it's in colour.

Agreed brilliant, watched it last night - last 10 mins or so had me sat up glued, spookiest stuff I've seen in ages - and I usually hate borring 'horror' films! Subtitles are a little hard going to begin with (main character speaks soooo fast!) but it doesn't stop it being a great movie.

I liked Quarantine more?

Probably because I saw it before REC. (weird I know)
#22
awesome film. BUY IT!

There's nothing wrong with this film. Admittidly the remake in general is a troublesome beast, but in this case it has been tamed and taught to do backflips, where as before it could only lick it's own arse.
