They also had packs of 4 AAA`s for same price but didn`t look at what the capacity of those were.

I`ve not tried them out yet as I`ve just got them but 4 AA 2300mAh batteries for £1.99 is certainly worth a punt.

Instore only ovbiously. They were on the racks next to each till point beside the other batteries

I've been buying these from Aldi for months. They hang them along the checkout conveyor. They've always cost me £1.99.

I never go aldi but its worth the trip for them at that price, having a baby and no doubt endless toys without batteries coming at crimbo! Hot!

why don't you recharge them?
you won't have to keep buying them.

I assume you having a joke rather than being thick.

I buy them every time I have a new gadget that requires them, and keep some charged in reserve for emergencies. Not ideal when the Xbox pad or digital camera batteries lose their charge, so I have spares ready.

Yep they have D and C cell, PP9 also.

Good deal, but if you are passing Lidl it might be worth looking in. Today I bought a pack of 4 AAA Ni-MH 900 mHh batteries reduced from £1.99 to £1.49. There were other sizes too but no AA batteries. It may just be local to the Cheadle store though.

Rechargables?

Thanks

I was in a rush but they did have other types as well under the AA/AAA`s. I`ll assume there was PP3`s etc and positive there were D cells. All were £1.99.

I got a pack of two AA`s out of Poundland the other day. 1000mAh though so i think your far netter buying 4 x 2300mAh for £1.99 than 2x 1000mAh for a pound.

Made me chuckle

Just a warning if you want cheap C or D size rechargeable cells you will normally find they are actually AA cells with C or D jackets! You can buy the jackets yourself from various places.

Err, NO, the Lidl and Aldi ones are full C and D, the latter are at least a massive 4500 mAH, hardly AA.

And you get 2 for £1.99

Where do you get a recharger that does the pp3's too?

See link below for the best* 15 quid I ever spent (although Maplin now sell them for about 11 quid).

Solar recharger that does pp3 batteries.

* Best, as in "value for money", of course. Not "best" as in "most pleasurable"! :whistling:

Quick warning about the Aldi/Lidl Rechargeables. If using a fast charger (I have a 15min charger) they won't last long at all. They may be OK with a slow charger though.

That applies to most rechargable batteries, its not really a reason to exclude Aldi or Lidl batteries. I gave up on fast chargers a long time ago, I've now got an 8 hour charger that does AA and AAA. Although it has to be left overnight to charge, I've not had any trouble with any batteries, apart from the really old ones that are probably approaching the end of their 1000 charge/discharge cycle lifetime.

The one thing that I would love to see is normal (non-rechargable) also rated in mAh. It works well when you want to compare rechargables, why not use the same to compare standard ones? Then we could actually see whether its worth buying one set of Duracell or five 'Tesco value' for the same price...

(oh, and I do know the answer to that, the one time I bought a Tesco value battery it kept our smoke alarm running for all of seven minutes!)

Lidl do these now and again for £1.99 as well.
You get 4 x AAA, or 4 x AA, or 2 x C, or 2 x D, or 1 x 9V.

Much better to get the AA or AAA from either Lidl or Aldi rather than Poundland.
The capacities are 2-3 times higher :)
