Seems a decent price, I like the fact that they come with rechargeable batteries and a charger.

Anyone got these actual one's who could recommend them?

have a pair on charge now, altho not yet used them
I like the idea of the standard AAA rechargeable batteries because spare sets for extended talktime are cheap, easy to carry and if the worst comes to the worst and all rechargeable sets are exhausted they can easily be temporarily exchanged for ordinary AAA batteries sold by any corner shop / newsagent / holiday sovenieer shop.

If we were to buy a set and other family members buy a set could we easily all use at same time (obviously if we were in the 3KM radius) ?

if all handsets are on the same frequency / channel then technically yes, altho it may become a little hectic if all four are trying to speak at the same time :w00t:

Cool, we are on holiday with other family members next year so would be ideal for that purpose, won't need to all speak at once thankfully :giggle:

ITS WORTH MENTIONING THE MAKRO OFFER IS FOR TWO SETS OF TWO COMPLETE WITH CHARGERS

The Binatone 550 Terrain ones are apparently the best spec you will get on ones under a hundred quid - (OK its my post - but comparing what I have read to my current ones they are great) - But the Argos ones only claim an 80m max range in an open area compared to 3km/2 miles for the Oregon ones and 8km/5 miles for the Binatone.

This range is over water - or from a hill to someplace you can see the side of the hill.

I have a set of just now that claim 3km/2 miles and at 200m in town and round a hill the other person had difficulty hearing me - although I could hear them fine.

You would only speak to someone at 3km if you could see where they were. The range in built up areas would be poor perhaps even as low as 100-200m (with my current set - which claim an identical range).

I am buying a set of the Binatone 8km/5 mile range ones from my post shown above (the Makro one, available from Wednesday), and if you have any range test you would like me to try - I am happy to give it a shot.

Additionally - its not like a 'duplex' conversation on a mobile - it is 'semi duplex' like the military type where you some times see them say 'over' at the end of a sentence - as you can only transmit or receive individually - and not at the same time.

I would definitely agree that if four handsets are required, then the spec comparison makes the Makro Binatone 550 deal more attractive.
Range within built-up areas seems limited for all these types of devices. Various comments about range & general usefulness of the Binatone set can be seen in various customer reviews.
Binatone uses qty 04 rechargeable AAA compared to the OS qty 03.

I still think this deal is HOT and left feedback accordingly if you do not have access to the Binatone/Makro offer I posted.

yes, a superb find. direct link:

you only have a couple of posts but as ibiza suggests, this item for under a tenner definitely deserves a thread of its own.
only word of warning is that stock is exceptionally limited - item cost ends in 97p (which usually = zero stock @ any DSG outlet), so you may pick up a few cold votes for questionable stock levels.
but hey, go for it

mmm, I will backtrack a little. A thread for this item @ PCW has been previously posted, but at twice the price!

I have had a pair of these for ages. They're quite good. The only downside is that they don't have a belt clip so you have to carry it, put it in your pocket or down your trunks if you're on holiday!!! Hmm, might buy another pair!
