I'm not really doing this as a deal, as they may be gone by this evening and then the post will just be made COLD. It's just a heads up for anyone interested in a new mobile phone in their life, but don't want to pay the full price and don't mind a reconditioned one.

These can be bought by phoning them up on 0800 052 0837 then option 2 and speak to a representative. As for their list of reconditioned phones available at the moment and they'll just let you know what's available

Today, the following phones are available as of noon:

SAMSUNG J700 in Pink = £22.50
SONY ERICSSON W302 in Silver = £25.00
SAMSUNG U600 in Black = £35.00
NOKIA 5220 in Black = £35.00
LG KC550 in Black = £40.00
LG KP500 Cookie in Black = £50.00

Remember, these are reconditioned, but are just like brand new and still come with a 12 month warranty. Also, if you receive the phone and don't like it, Virgin will let you send it back to them for refund or exchange.

The prices above DO NOT include the delivery cost, which I think is about £5, but is next day.

Hope this can help some of you out and if people feel this is useful, I may do this a couple of times a week.

Cheers
Steve

Just a note that I've got a 5220, and I've just got the latest firmware upgrade. It's a superb music phone - 8gb memory card in it, standard headphone socket, good reception, and offline Google maps. Battery life is pretty good too.

£35 is a bargain and a half.

and the direct link is?

Hot - an LG Cookie for £50, best I've seen. Thanks

I thought that! I've just sent for one of those for my son and an LG Cookie for me. I've had the Virgin Mobile recons before and other than they somtimes come in a brown box, the phone and the accessories are usually like brand new and with a full warranty.

How do I buy one? The link sends me to a logo screen with no options

I'm really sorry, just edited the post. This is OFFLINE ONLY. I've added the 0800 Freephone number though, so you don't have to pay to find out.

Download the maps and plonk them on your memory card, basically. There's a few guides online to do it.

AH - sorry, I meant Nokia maps. I'm a fool...

The price of the Nokia 5220 is that good, I've just ordered another for my daughter. It seems like they've got lots of stock.

As for unlocking, I'm no expert but with this being a popular phone, you'll probably find it cheaper to go to a phone shop and getting it done there. Price is usually between £5-£10. If you want Virgin to do it for you, I'll cost £15 and they'll send you an unlocking code specific to you phone through the post. This usually takes 7 days.

LG KC550 now out of stock. Was in stock but then spent 15 minutes on the phone to soneone in the Philippines..........a very nice lady but I fear the lack of her ability to understand a word I was saying has just cost me a good deal!
#24
Well they've arrived already!! Ordered last night at 9pm and here by 3pm today.

For all that don't know what you get with a Virgin Recon phone, I've just took a couple of photos of my new Cookie and the packaging:

Well worth the money, even if I say so myself! The phone is immaculate, no marks, smudges or finger prints. It has all the LCD protectors on and on the rear of the phone. Also comes with a spare LCD Protector!!

Not opened the Nokia 5220, as it's a present for my son.

For those interested, I hope you all get lucky.

How did you manage to accommodate a 8GB memory card in the 5220. According to the Nokia UK website:

Memory functions
Memory functions
Up to 30 MB internal user memory
512 MB MicroSD card included support for up to 2 GB cards

I assume the software upgrade is the basis for the increased memory?

Nokia is good but you will need to go to a pro unlocker like Kingmobilephone or scan ebay to find a seller you can sell you the unlock code, this costs around £10 unfortunately but still oif you want the phone on O2 is a fairly good deal
