I think I bought enough LP's and CD's back in the 70's, 80's and 90's, when they were f*****g expensive (e.g. £13 and more for a CD back in 1986) to keep the record companies and artists rich for a lifetime!

Now the boot's on the other foot !!!!!!

Think there are a few bands about now who wern't even born then so maybe should throw a few quid their way??

Forget Vinyl & CDs, I am listening to my new Rough Trade C09 Compact Cassette as I type this from my local record store (RPM Newcastle).

No, only had time to pop in before work but they were giving loads of free stuff away including cakes! RPM is better and cheeper than HMV and you get free cakes!

Thanks for this interesting deal!! Being a music lover I urge everybody to go support the record shops. I'm playing New Order's Technique album right ow on vinyl and it sounds class.

I still buy records, me. Much better sound than cd's and especially mp3's! I pity today's youth who don't experience music in a full dimensional sound and who's height of musical appreciation consists of listening to songs through tinny mobile phone speakers.

Reading this thread, I feel kinda bad being such a dedicated pirate. Still, if the industry hadn't buttraped me for years over the price of CDs, I might feel bad enough to pay again. And I find it kinda hard to buy into the "Don't pirate! Support your local independant recordshop!" mantra when most independant record shops are more than happy to sell "live import" CDs which are, lest we forget, pirate records. So they can kiss my ****.

You have probably been ripped off by some of the larger labels/store but the good thing about the indie stores/labels is they generally tend to get more of the money you pay back to the artists. Iv paid for records from RPM in Newcastle that have been made by hand by the band and I know about 75% of that money goes to them direct!

I still don’t buy the argument of money being taken by the evil labels anyway really. They do pay for a lot of things like Studio Time, Promotion etc and they can loose a lot of money if an artist makes a bad record that doesn’t sell. Every thing you ever buy from anyone ever has some sort of mark up on it, its called a free market economy people.
