Dave Lister is the last human being in the universe. A lowly technician on the mining ship Red Dwarf, he wakes up one day to find that the rest of the crew have been killed by a radiation leak. He has been in stasis for three million years. He is doomed to drift in space for the rest of eternity with only two companions: the hologram of his former crewmate, Rimmer, and a creature called Cat who has evolved from a pet he smuggled on board.

Enjoy all the episodes from the cult BBC sitcom that ran from 1988 - 1999.

I received this item as a gift for Father's Day this year from my kids... and yes, you're right, as much as I enjoy watching the shows when they are repeated, watching from the beginning of series 1 only demonstrates how much better the writing (& acting) is in the later series instalments.

If you are a fan, then you'd already have this set (or the one of the other sets with all the outtakes & bonus features)... if you're not, then £34.25 may tempt you... but be prepared to not get into the typical 'Dwarf comedy groove until at least part of the way through series 2.

The first couple of series were by far the best!!

As a fan already have the individual DVD's but this is a great buy for anyone after the full set... heat added :)

The first Kryten (David Ross) [Series 2] was nowhere near as good as what Robert Llewellyn did with the character from Seires 3 onwards.

Or do you disagree?

Saying that, as much as I like Hattie Hayridge's "Holly" ("Hilly") incarnation (in Series 3, 4, & 5, & "Parallel Universe"), I do think Norman Lovett's version was better.

Hmmm...

:)

Ahh couldnt disagree more. The first five series were excellent IMO, the last two series (6 & 7) really lost my interest. I think the storylines and humour in 1-5 were far superior.

There were 8 series not 7.
Although to be honest I don't blame you for blanking the last series - still had its funny bits but the best were earlier on.

Ah yes, the ones with one large story spanning the whole series rather than a story in each episode.

It's also nice to see that the 'Back to Earth' episodes aren't included, as they're quite abysmal by comparison.
