Gobsmackingly good price for this as the cheapest WITHOUT the Motion Plus included is £29.99 at Game/Tesco/Gamestation and WITH the Motion Plus this is £40 to £50 elsewhere

Red Steel 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to Red Steel, the first title ever announced and entirely designed for the Nintendo Wii. Red Steel 2 is a first-person action-game where you play a lonesome fighter who can fight with his sword and his gun at any time. This sequel sets a new milestone by being exclusively designed for the Wii MotionPlus, greatly increasing the precision of the controls. The game is particularly intuitive: just pick up the controls and experience the strength of the swing of the sword of an expert fighter. Fight your way through a grand solo campaign taking place in an edgy city in the middle of the desert. Red Steel 2 brings you the best sword and gun fighting experience you'll face on a console!

Includes Wii MotionPlus

* Be the Swordsman
* You are a lonesome fighter, a badass with attitude, a hard man full of mystery. Your goal is to defeat the wicked plans of a Warlord who has set his headquarters in the middle of a strange city.
* Face various and increasingly stronger enemies and defeat challenging bosses in epic and intense fights.
* Discover the truth about your presence in this mystifying metropolis.
* Immersive Edgy Western Setting
* Your adventure takes place in a high-tech metropolis located in the middle of the desert, a place where the East meets the West. A modern Wild Wild East.
* Visit various places through the city, each with a distinctive style.
* Impressive cut scenes let you discover the game's immersive background and environment.
* Exclusively Designed for the Wii MotionPlus
* Thanks to the Wii MotionPlus's 1:1 recognition, your sword movements are precisely reproduced within the game. Slice the villains the way you want!
* What's more, the Wii MotionPlus measures the power of your swing. The harder you swing the Wii Remote, the harder you swing your sword in the game!
* Finally the Wii MotionPlus brings a much more precise input, allowing you to accurately aim at your enemies with the Wii Remote.
* This very intuitive concept makes the game really accessible. However the wide range of difficulty levels allows you to have a very challenging experience if you chose to.
* Close Combat System
* The first-person view drives you right to the centre of the action and the Wii MotionPlus allows you to immediately feel like a powerful swordmaster and gunslinger.
* Fight up to six enemies at the same time and feel free to use your sword or your gun at any time.
* The Wii MotionPlus and the improved controls also allow you to master numerous combos with your sword and your gun.
* You can also trigger impressive and various finish kills on your enemies.
* Parry your opponents' attacks and deflects their bullets with your sword!
* Upgrade and improve your weapons throughout the adventure.

Yes, that was the original intention as the game is designed to be used with the Wii MotionPlus peripheral.

Game.co.uk, though, for instance, are listing two different versions; one with (£39.99) & one without (£29.99) the extra hardware:

[ http://www.game.co.uk/search.aspx?s=red+steel+2 ]

Play.com also have two listings at present; £44.99 or £34.99 (without the additional hardware).

Maybe the article you quoted (and fell foul of the URL filter) was referring to the North American market.

You could be right there fanpages - I was trying to link to 1up.com, so the article is

http://www. 1up.com /do/newsStory?cId=3174511 (remove the spaces)

It is a US site, and was referring to a US Ubisoft press conference.

We have two Motion Plus units anyway, so I would prefer the option of ordering without another one bundled in automatically. It's a shame that Nintendo didn't get the original Wiimote technology quite right really, as I don't like all these extra bits of plastic that I have to keep attaching...........leaning more towards classic set up (NES controller) games these days. Loving the remake of ExciteBike from the Wii Shop Channel :thumbsup:

I have been trying to cut back and not buy and games for a while, but i was waiting on this last year and really want it especially for the second motion plus (I refuse to pay another £15 per controller after Wii already has the most expensive ones)...but great find- gonna pre-order for that price cause i would expect to pay that for a normal game upon release day- so for it with motion plus is bargin

nice find- voted hot

I've never bouight anything from the Wii Shop Channel... not being a huge Nintendo fan in the past (if at all), I struggle to find anything to tempt me.

I do recall, however, reading that a new "Wiimote" was in development (it may even be near to, or at, market now) that has the Wii MotionPlus technology built-in to the base but retains the same size & a similar weight to the original.

Should I stumble across the article again I'll point you to it.

I needed an excuse to buy the Wii MotionPlus though; I think "Red Steel 2" may be just that :)

They really do need to build this in, it would make the unit so much more appealing. I can't be doing with clipping things on and off, taking off protective covers and the like. If I want to play a game, I just want to be able to pick up a controller and get going with it. If you do find the article, I would be interested to read it.

You really should have a look on the Wii Shop channel sometime, there are some cracking games on there. Excite Bike and Tomena Sanner have been the stand out releases to date this year. I have also very much enjoyed playing Swords and Soldiers and Nyx Quest (ooh, and World of Goo!), and am looking forward to playing Lost Winds next.

If you have never seen it, Nintendo Life is a great site, that was dedicated to WiiWare and Virtual Console titles, but now seems to cover everything Nintendo. That is where I keep up to date on Virtual Releases, as Nintendo themselves don't do a very good job of shouting about them.

Thanks. I see that there is also a Nyko Wiimote coming out with motion plus built in (out in March?). Looks good - the Nyko controllers are supposed to be decent substitutes generally.
