Went in my local Wilkinsons today and saw these on the shelf.

500ml for £3.89 I don't believe you can get this amount in volume cheaper

I know not everyone likes to use the stuff, but if you do, pop into your local branch and snap up what I think is a bargain.

I personally would NEVER put this stuff in any sort of motor. I've seen too many destroyed after people use this stuff.

Pretty much all Fuel and Oil "additives" do nothing but potentially cause issues. There's a couple which possibly do something but at worst just hit your wallet, they dont do damage, just cost a lot for nothing.

This stuff does more harm than good IMO, stay well away.

care to name these" issues"?

Redex, how quaint.
I thought this stuff became surplus to requirements when petrol improved about 50 years ago.

of course people get sucked in to buying, im sure the back says something like, smoother running, lower mpg, lower emissions, longer engine life

redex used to be stuff to decoke an engine or deal with sticky valves

Hardly an issue on modern fuel injection cars

if you feel the car might feel a bit clogged up, the best solution is a good hard motorway run, find a long hill, and give it a bit of extra welly

cars used around town too much clog up, and have trouble passing the mot on emissions. thats how they are sorted, not with more goop.

Agree. Don't use this stuff...will cost you more in the long run.
#10
Not sure it does harm but it's unnecessary, I've seen a test that proved these things are useless.
#11
remember using this on my Triumph Spitfire 30 odd years ago , didn't seem to make any difference then.

Additives that do nothing to solve problems that don't exist!

Makes the lawn mowers, strimmers etc run better.

Would cost me that to get to my nearest Costco and back....you're lucky to have one so near to make the purchase worthwhile.

With due respect to those that say don't touch it, don't use it, wouldn't touch with a barge pole etc cos it does more harm than good....yes I have heard this many a time, and there are plenty of people that the internet that say don't use it.

But surely if it was that bad, they wouldn't be able to sell it.....if it was proven to damage parts, or just be a placebo, then it would be banned.

I'ved used it all my motoring life which is about 21 years now in all 4 of my cars and not noticed any ill effects.

By all means, stick to your guns and don't use it, but not everyone has had bad experiences with the stuff

isn't this place about bargains, rather than if people want to use it?

I agree - I use it in my mower, and it now starts first pull, every time.

Its true, modern cars with catalysers also tend to need warming up once the catalyser is no longer brand new...best way to pass an emissions test ironically is to rag your car on the motorway just before the test.
Get the cat nice and hot then try get it on the emissions test machine ASAP, no hanging around in the car park all morning with the cat cooling right back down.

I have used redex in the past among other engine cleaning products seemed to work to some extent, anyway not a bad price. I can't see redex actually doing any damage to your engine though...i doubt the company producing the stuff would stay in production very long if they did.
