Great find in the John Lewis sale ( Leicester ) Last few Lenovo S5000 tablets reduced to £84 from £99.95 with £30 Lenovo cash back makes it only £54 . May be worth checking instore at your local John Lewis to see if the have any as they have taken it off their website now. Not as good as the Nexus 7 but a great tablet for just over 50 quid. Have a 10" tablet myself but couldn't resist at this price.

Great deal if all goes through OK, very tempting ...must resist, got an extortionately priced holiday to pay for!

Sounds like a stonking deal... The 3G version is still on the JL website @ £129.95 http://www.johnlewis.com/lenovo-ideatab-s5000-tablet-quad-core-processor-android-7-wi-fi-3g-16gb-silver-grey/p821375

Actually I got it for £80 - initially John Lewis staff told me the cash back offer had finished. I went home and checked the Lenovo web site, that confirmed that the offer is on till the 31st July. Went back and complained that they gave me false information and they knocked another 4 quid off - so happy days!

Just spoke with JL customer service who logged into the shop floor system. Only two left in the country apparently and they are £99.95 and have never been £84 unless they were a return/ex display etc.

OP can you upload a receipt?

Well I bought mine at lunch time and there was some still left then. Maybe the staff bought them after I told them that the cash back deal was still on .

Must say that after playing with it for several hours I'm mighty impressed for the price! Video quality on Skype was better than my Mac!

Does anyone know whether the Argos one is the 3G version? Waiting to hear back from Argos at the moment.

If you look at the specs - it's not.

I was just going by the original price on the Argos site which seemed to be the price the 3G model was originally sold at. Have known Argos to add things to the spec that aren't available and miss things off that are!

Doesn't say 3G on the spec. You won't get the £30 cashback either at Argos.
The wifi one is back on Amazon now at £98.42 before cashback.
#24
Mmm. Tempted by the Amazon one. I'm sulking with John Lewis at the moment. Think of selling my old Nook HD and maybe going for this. Just suspicious about the £199.99 original price at Argos. Either they've got got the original price of the non 3G model wrong(non 3G was originally £179.99) or it's got 3G and they haven't put it in the specs. I bet I know what's more likely! Just pondering whether I can get away without 3G. Phone contract finishes in September and just wondering if I can get a decent contract with more data than I have now and tethering.

That's odd. I noticed somebody on one of the other threads whose S5000 had done that (or so he said). Just got mine and when I connected to my router there was a notification that it wanted to start upgrading. I didn't let it do it yet as I wanted to check out more the reports of Kitkat slowing the tablet down, and with this hot weather I'm not using my PC much. But the idea is to put Kk on and root the tablet sometime over the next couple of weeks.

Edit Last post on this thread auto updated to Kk

Hmm that's a worry. Is it a lot slower? There aren't any custom ROMs about for it that I can see either. Will have to keep a copy of the original to reinstall then before I upgrade

Not much but I can see lag when scrolling and doing things faster like changing from 1 app to another

Thanks. I'll look into it a bit more before upgrading :)
