Nice!
#3
keep an eye on this, it was £15 last jan for this and £10 for the more basic one
#4
Oh, didn't know that lol, still a big reduction at the moment...
#5
So why vote cold on the chance' it may reduce more?! :? This is excellent value at this price.
#6
this is still way over priced...

No it isn't, suggest you price this all up like I did - you'd be surprised :whistling:

I have to say that there is very little on the box that I would use. Most of what is in there could probably be bought a lot cheaper if purchased separately. Keep me informed if it gets cheaper.
#9
compared to last year when they sold for £15 after christmas this IS overpriced!

So what? There's no guarantee these will go down or they'll be any left after this reduction. Try voting on the deal now, against the price it was and now is. If we voted every deal on the pure basis of what they were a year ago, and may or not be this year, every deal going would likely be cold.

it may not have the same stuff but it was a good post to remind us all, hence we need to keep an eye on this one.

thanks OP

For a start, add up the cost of the wines, port & champagne....then start on the foods. This is way below shop bought price.

That hamper from last year was their £50 finest - they never reduced their supreme £150 hamper that this is!!

Not every one of your deals is going to be great ....but the more you argue the fact in your own thread the worse it's going to get !

Suggest a few of you get your info right - this was the originally-priced £50 Finest hamper reduced (which I bought too), NOT this supreme!

hmm, i was actually sticking up for your post by saying to keep an eye on it because it may go further reduced.
in fact i did it twice, one on each of my posts, never mind then, if you are 100% correct and this wont get any further reductions it gets a cold from me.

and just to clarify, the BASIC hamper was the one reduced FROM £50 to £9.99, the tesco finest hamper was £80 or more before being reduced.

Vote cold all you like, if the deal benefits 1 person who can see the value of this and buys then it's worth it. Too many people these days are so quick to try to shoot a deal down, especially with a wrong comparison against a £15 (worth £50) hamper from last year.

If you really ever thought this hamper - with 2 wines, port and champagne let alone all the food - would ever go down to £15 then you're seriously deluded. And it would have long sold out before it got anywhere even near to that price.

I can't get the value of the contents to more than about £50, its just biscuits, sweets and few bottles of booze.

Maths wasn't your strong point I take it?

75cl Finest Gavi white wine - £5.46
75cl Finest Medoc red wine - £5.49
75cl Taylors LBV port - £11.19
75cl Finest premiere cru champagne - £12.98
Total just for the drinks = £35.12

So according to you, the whole of the rest of the food comes to just £14.88??

No it wasn't - it was stated at least twice in that thread http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/131269/tesco-direct-cheap-hampers-get-them/ that the Finest hamper was reduced from £50, the basic was reduced from £35. That post also states the Finest was reduced to £14.06, the basic was reduced to £9.37 - a tad economical with the actual truth.

It's not for me. I don't do hampers. But it is obviously a good price, and agree with what you say throughout whizzkid. Using peoples analogy if a DVD was released at RRP of £13.99 and someone was selling it at £8.99 people would vote hot. Of course they would. Would they vote "cold" 'cos it's likely to be £3.99 in 12 months time? Of course not. So that argument is moot. For what the hamper contains it is a bargain. I think some people will vote cold because they simply don't "do hampers" Again, that's no reason to vote cold. If it's not for you then don't vote. If it is for you and you like it at this price then it's hot. If you can find a similar high quality hamper cheaper then vote cold. :santa:
