Reebok One GT40S Treadmill.£399.99 at Argos

Just bought this to start off getting fit again, too cold to run outside and I don't fancy getting run over again. Seemed like a good deal after shopping around a bit and available in only 5 days so thought I would share, even though it's reduced from £1099 it says it was last on sale at £549 so still seems a good deal to me.

What? never too cold in the UK to run outside with the correct clothing, odds on you getting run over again are probably pretty slim but I'm sure you could choose a route thats not near busy roads? you'd be saving yourself £400 if you could.

For me it's too dark to run outside without a 15 minute drive to find somewhere with street lights so revert to the treadmill in winter. Enjoy.

£399 is a fair price for this (speed, incline, belt size), it will be voted cold by those who think you should spend 20 times this on something you'd find down the gym. Pay your money take your choice.

Treadmill posts are always voted cold on here. The fact that this site is about deals is ignored by those that are able to run outside whenever they want.

Maybe they could take a couple of toddlers out for a run with them or leave them at home alone? Beating that, how about actually being helpful and suggesting a workable alternative please?

Ok just some advice. Homebase normally stocks most that Argos stock.

They also have 20% off at the moment

Cant think of anything more dangerous than using a treadmill on your own with a couple of toddlers present, workable alternative? train when they're at nursery/at grandparents/with other partner or if your intent on spending some money then how about a jogging stroller?

Good deal. I'm a similar position myself where it's hard to get started marathon training at this time of year due to the lack of daylight where I live. Deserves more heat. Thanks OP.

voted hot.....

ignore Muppets like paulj, he's come here purely to preach his opinion on you, people like that can't stand it when others do things differently to them. We're looking for a treadmill ourselves which is to go alongside our already busy fitness lifestyle with crossfit, tough mudders, marathons etc, they are great but treadmill do have their place, i.e. when the kids are in bed we can spend 30 mins each and do a few miles and get also are great if you have injuries, bad knees etc....

another point is my mother in law has MS, she also has major OCD, it takes her already three hours to get ready to leave the house and is a tv addict, not my choice of life but she'll gladly walk for an hour on the treadmill whilst watching her soaps in her dressing gown. that too me is a miracle, without the treadmill she'd be in much worse shape than she currently is.....

btw anyone know the difference between the reebok GT and ZR range?

Agreed. Hot deal and I'm getting one. Thanks

Great deal, ordered one! First treadmill so let the exercise begin!

sorry to bump this thread but can anyone comment on how good it is if they have purchased this treadmill ?

Just had mine delivered this morning but not opened the box yet as had to go to work. its a rather large box and extremely heavy and took two delivery guys to drag it into my living room. no idea how I'm going to get it up the stairs and not sure that i should as it weighs 79kg and I'm not sure i won't end up going through the ceiling and landing in the middle of the living room while my wife is watching Coronation Street.

Are these things safe to have upstairs in a relatively new house with new floorboards?

thanks ,let us know how it goes mate.

Leeski i think it will be fine upstairs in terms of weight, its highly unlikely a treadmill will cause your ceiling to fall through, although you will have a problem with noise if you put it upstairs, if your wife will be downstairs watching tv then it might get a bit annoying for her. I ordered one too hopefully arriving next week, please update us on its appearance, sturdiness, how it works etc...and is it a lot bigger than you expected? because i have a space in mind where i might place it but i'm feeling this space wont be big enough
#16
also does anyone know why it was discounted so much? i thought that maybe there was something wrong with them and they just wanted to get rid of stock but after further research i found out there was a reebok GT40 which looked like a newer version of GT40S, the specs were the same, only difference was appearance, the newer version ofcourse looked better but was selling for £1099, i think im okay with a not so good looking model for the discount we get

Really? Nothing more dangerous at all?

The weight of you and your wife is probably nearly the weight of you and the treadmill. So both of you jump up and down close together and that should give an idea of floor movement. Suspect main issue will be getting it up the stairs....
Treadmill - Argos have the zr9 which seems to have similar specs so maybe rrp of gt40s has been artificially inflated

I'me waiting for mine due on 19/1/15. Ordered mainly to see if missus & I can loose a few pies. We intended putting this upstairs but maybe the garage might be better. I see the price has increased from £399.00 to £449.00 still less than half the "alleged" RRP. On that basis £449.00 still seems to make it somewhat hotish. Will try and post again when we get the machine assembled and in place. I bet the delivery guys wont be too keen on carrying the sucker up-stairs so the garage it may well be.

You can still get this on Arogs Ebay for £420 but that includes express delivery.

Garages are not the best place for treadmills - some manufacturers(eg Kettler) warn that condensation may affect the electronics over time. Sweatband provide this suggestion
If you’re treadmill is going to live in a garage or outdoor building it is important to prevent the machine and electronics from getting too cold and damp. Cold temperatures can cause the running belt to harden and crack and exposure to damp can quickly damage the fragile electrical components and LCD screens of fitness equipment. To prevent this, you can either leave a heater on a low setting to take the ‘chill off’ (making the environment much less inviting for the user too!) or a cheaper alternative is to cover the console with a blanket when not in use. Covering the entire treadmill with a plastic sheet is also a good idea to prevent damp and dust from collecting on the machine. When it’s time for a workout, turn the treadmill on and let it ‘warm up’ for 10 minutes before starting your session. Plus, if you’re going to store your machine in this way, be sure to treat it to a treadmill mat to sit on :)

Maybe bung the delivery guys a few extra quid if they are willing to take it upstairs

I had one of these delivered last week. Still waiting for a response from Argos as to why the display is different to the one advertised. There are no 'countdown hills' (sorry, don't know the proper term if there is one) and it's one of the main reasons I chose this one over others as I can only walk and needed the motivation of seeing what's next and how many hills left.
#23
Interesting. I walk too and need those bars as shown in the Argos info. I assumed they would be standard an any treadmill with a variable incline. Pretty useless readout if you cant see what level your on. My machine is arriving in the next hour or so so I will have a check and report back here asap.

any constructive feedback / comments ??

I recieved mine today, it was a lot bigger than expected and the display on te LED screen differed to what was shown on the website but for what I'm using it for I don't mind, it shows distance, calories, incline, speed and time all on the screen...maybe if you press some buttons it might change what comes up on the screen? Haven't looked at it thoroughly yet but it seems sturdy and nice so far
