  Whilst I appreciate your enthusiasm and I'm grateful to see any unwanted pet get a good home. I am a little alarmed at your lighthearted attitude. ( "get a dog to go with your pirate outfit" !? ) Housing a pet is a major undertaking and should not be taken carelessly. To see it posted as a 'Hot Deal ' is slighly disconcerting and I personally feel the offer of cashback is inappropriate? Heat anyway for bringing attention to a worthy cause but please people think carefully before offering a home to ANY animal.

  Totally agree,you should not need a cash incentive to give a loving home to an abandoned dog.You should do it because you want to and have the time,space and money to lookafter it properly.No offence meant to the OP.

  Battersea vets all potential adopters and I'm guessing there are a few terms and conditions attached to this deal. There is no actual profit to be made so as an incentive for people considering rehoming I guess it is a good deal and the more people made aware of it the better. The ops 'free dog' title is I think the reason this is being blasted.

  These are animals which have already had a terrible time, they need a stable environment. Not one where there owners wanted to save a few quid to spend on a mobile phone or tablet. Not a bad 'deal', just certain people on this site strike me as not being able to take care of themselves let alone another living creature.

  Charging money to get an old pet is mental anyway, people give away puppies and kittens for free so the fee is off putting in the first instance.

  The money you give to re-home one of these pets is used to cover the micro chipping, spaying etc and look after the ones who are in their care and the hundreds that get dumped on their doorsteps, I think it's a stupid idea. I obviously don't know what arrangement has been made between the two parties but I hope Battersea is not loosing out and the animals it cares for.
