this isn't a bad machine at all. i have one. it can play HD stuff with the onboard graphics if you set it up right. it stutters if you don't. put it on hyper threading and use core avc and MPC or VLC

it only has a pci-e x1 so you can't upgrade the graphics at a reasonable price. it's just stereo sound, but i got a card for £12.50 that gives spdiff out on everything. it's got 1xIDE channel and space for 2x5.25" drives, and 2x SATA channels, but i think just SATA 150. you can upgrade ram to 2gb cheaply and easily. with a bit of imagination you can cram a fair few HD's inside, but it's designed just for two. mine had a card reader, but not all models came with that. by googling a firmware upgrade i could read SDHC cards on it. you can use the pci-e to get a cheap SATA controller for about £15 from scan if you want more sata devices or faster than sata 150, i use one, along with a pci sata/ide card as i have a few drives stuffed inside

it's a fairly quiet machine too, i use it connected to my plasma and 5.1 amp. it has no fan on the cpu, it's a large heatsink like a lot of dells, and a big slow fan. 2 USB on the front and i think 4 on the back

Hot from me. Just bought one.
Nice attic space heater, stop my pipes freezing in the winter now the loft is super insulated, oh yeah, and a pretty good price for a very flexibe NAS once I bung in a big drive.

That is almost the same as I have at home

Except I bought it in 2005 for about £700+ :x (with monitor, better graphics and sound card)

good system though and good price

Am I imagining it or was this thread originally a Dell Optiplex 210L ? That's certainly what I got when I followed the link to big pockets and bought one?
