Found this Nokia E5 for £99.90 + £10 topup. Also £6 Quidco

Cheapest I can see elsewhere is £150.

It's refurbished but from experience, that just means "not in original box" - rest is usually as new.

Because it's refurbished, I'd expect it to be unlocked and unbranded!

Thoughts from anyone?

Available in black too here: http://www.mobiles.co.uk/t-mobile-nokia-e5-clearance-pay-as-you-go.html

Comparing to the Blackberry 8520, the E5 has a screen with more colours, has 3G/HSDPA, GPS, FM Radio etc.

Better comparison here.
#2
Any cold voters, please say why as I'm considering buying this.
#3
probably because far too many moronic people vote cold with no clue as to why
#4
probably the best phone in the world.......:p
#5

probably the best phone in the world.......:p

It's not the best phone in the world but it's certainly one of the best qwerty phones I've ever seen!

Voted hot!

Oh slick! 8)8)8)

I have been after this sucker and have been foiled so many times (this week) trying to get it. Everything from 'no stock for the white colour' to being forced to take out a contract (that I dont need).

I have had plenty of refurbs without hassle (networks normally send you out a refurb without your knowledge when you return your phone for replacement under warranty).

Having had almost every single type of phone available (ever since they came out) my old E71 was by far the best. JanSt from mobot swears by it and I agree (after extensive research and testing it out for half a day).

I will have my E5... I will not be denied! :p
#8
Does anyone know if this would come unlocked or not?

Has anyone (shuwaz?) ordered one and could confirm/deny this when you receive it?
#9
I am on the verge of getting one, but not necessarily via this particular deal. I may be getting a used one locally for £75 (but in mint condition).

If I do end up going via this deal, I'll update this thread with a new post.

Oh ok, that's cool. If you do, please let us know as I'm on the verge of getting either this through this deal, or getting an E71 locally.

Every phone that I have had from CPW or one of it's subsiduaries, it has been unlocked.
#12
says it's "unlocked" in the ad in mobiles.co.uk .. so my guess it is unlocked :-)
I had E61i and have Orange San Fran now but my wife wants a new phone and wondered how this compared with both - she doesn't really like touch screen phones ?!?

I've just ordered the white one - tired of touch screen phones.

Great deal.

LMAO.

I've just ordered an E71 from Amazon for £75 but otherwise, I'd have ordered this!
#17
Explain the LMAO please. Some say the Symbian OS is a bit flakey.

Are you not joking?

I assumed you are since in nigh on every mobile phone thread, we get a comparison to the San Francisco, much like in every 2.5" portable hard-drive thread, someone points out a cheaper 3.5" one..
#19
No I'm not. And you seem to be holding back from actually answering the question in any relevant detail.
#20
amazing phone - although I still think the n95 is the best phone i've ever owned, no specific reasons why, i just loved it, that is the original, not black 8gb version of it
#21
I have an N78 at the moment and imo the Symbian OS isnt that great. Why is the E5 an amazing phone? Nobody is saying why it's great.

And you are being very aggressive. I've never used this phone as is evident by my posts!

And you are comparing a touch screen Android phone to a QWERTY blackberry style symbian phone. Chalk and cheese.

So the reason you didn't get a response was because it was a stupid question.

Plus you could google this yourself.

I'm not being aggressive at all, you are. And I've still not had an answer. Why is this a good phone? We can discuss it here, shouldn't need to google as this is a discussion thread, you have been saying this is a great deal. Why is it?

How would anybody else know if it's the best phone you've ever had?

From wikipedia:

Reception of the E5 has generally been positive, CNET UK praised the quality of the full qwerty keyboard, but criticized the performance of the 320 x 240 pixel LCD, quoting it as "virtually impossible to see in direct sunlight". [7] [2]Softpedia in contrast stated that the LCD worked perfectly in sunlight.[8]

Both CNET UK and CNET Asia wrote that the Symbian OS version v. 9.3 user interface is outdated.[9] [7]

Softpedia wrote that the E5-00 is "an all-rounder as it performs decent in all areas", though they also stated that the camera is not a very strong point.

Where have I called this a great phone, amazing or anything similar. I posted this since it seemed cheap.

You don't need to vote this hot if you don't want to.

Look mate, either you have a serious issue with this phone or haven't been laid for months but you need to stop taking your anger out on everyone, you're boring.

Actually I was interested in it, and I thought you could tell me more about it. Evidently not. I've done some reading and I'm less interested in it now. Thanks so much for your help.

You're welcome. Unfortunately I couldn't tell you more about it as I've personally never owned a Nokia E series and indeed haven't owned a Nokia since the 3310, and my wife hasn't had one aside from the 5800. Nor have either of us ever owned a Blackberry. The closest either of us have had to a QWERTY phone is the LG KS360 my wife once had.

So sorry, I can't help aside from what Google tells me, and you!

I've been through pretty much ever type of mobile phone, ever since they first came out. From a tiny fashion phone, a workmans brick and a multi-functioning Windows/Symbian smart4r5e phone, through to the iPhone (constantly kept behind the curve so they have something new to put on the next version - yeah no suprises for guessing that Live wallpapers, widgets and customisable screens/icons will be on the iPhone 5), Android and the QWERTY candy bars.

The E71 is the best of all time in my opinion followed closely by the N95 and original iPhone.

LOL! X)

Is that what you would say to Jeremy Clarkson about cars when he said the Ferrari F40 (produced in 1987 so 24 years old) was one of 'the best of all time'...? (_;)

Doesnt have to be new to be the best.

So by your logic, a newborn baby, or a ten year old (presuming you're older than ten which isn't actually obvious or apparent) is smarter, more athletic, and overall better than you are in all respects, because you're "dated"?

This thread is a hot deal mainly for someone intending to buy the Nokia E5 (and has already made that decision - i.e research, tried and tested).

Vote this hot because this is the cheapest deal out there (for that particular phone).

If your not sure whether this is a good phone or not (or if you should buy it) then you've already made a wrong move. (_;)

Are you really interested in this phone or are you just trying to be objective? If the latter is true then go to a mobile phone shop and ask to try it out (they usually do so it if you ask nicely enough).
I know from my own experience (tried it out and asked three diff. people who own it and have had the iphone/htc desire z/htc desire hd) that it gives at least double the battery life, is lightweight, practical (good sized keyboard - beats the pants of a touchscreen keyboard) and the OS doesnt freeze/lock-up as much as the Android/iPhone.

Those arent my words alone, they are the opinions of three others as well. :{

Agreed.

To find out if the phone is any good or not, google it, and check some reviews.

This site is about the deal and this is the cheapest it's available.

This site is about the deal and discussing if products are any good or not (if they arent that good who cares if they're really cheap!)
