More second-hand tat, this time though with added dual personality.... 1.4 or is it 1.6?

Has no-one seen the price of new laptops these days, by the time you add a new battery, seeing as the one on this one has no warranty, you are nearly there!

>CPU / Processor Intel Centrino 1.6Ghz

There is no such thing as a Centrino processor.

Centrino is a platform-marketing initiative from Intel. It is not a mobile CPU - rather, the term covers a particular combination of mainboard chipset, mobile CPU and wireless network interface in the design of a laptop

As already said, once you buy a new battery for this, you could almost buy a new laptop with a lot higher spec and a full warranty. Its not a great price for a low spec second hand laptop with an old battery included.

Agreed - it is used as an umbrella term covering a range processors and chipsets etc specified for mobility and better power efficiency/battery life.

You'd be looking at closer to £600 for a new Tecra.

Yeah, but when you compare the price of this second hand one with an old battery, to the price and spec of the Sony Vaio that Argos are selling brand new with full warranty

Its definitely not a great price for a 2nd hand PC with very old specifications from Bigpockets

Laptops 4+ years old, probably an ex business laptop which means 4 years of hard use & abuse a complete gamble on what you will get. I know the M1's we were scrapping a year ago lasted minutes on battery, had HDD failures noisy fans and wireless network issues.
Cold from me.

Yes I dare say, but this isn't a new Tecra either, it's not nearly a new Tecra! :?
