hmm this puts me off abit:

"The useable battery life of used laptop batteries can vary greatly from model to model. Therefore we guarantee the batteries in our used/refurbished laptops will last for a minimum of 10 minuites. In most cases they will hold a much longer charge, but due to the nature of used batteries, this is the minimum time we can guarantee."

I think that's their standard disclaimer - I'm not sure if any sellers of used laptops guarantee their batteries do the? I certainly wouldn't - used batteries can fail quite quickly. Personally I'd look out for a cheap 9 cell battery on ebay, they last for ages.

Not good at all. Too old laptop, no touchpad, no information about battery. £174 is not cheap at all. Stay away.

Voted hot before I knew it was a refurb, and no optical drive. Can I change my mind?

    Vista....

Best way to find out what these are worth is to do a completed items search on ebay. They go for more than this. They aren't low quality consumer laptops.

Whats misleading about it? It seems a good deal for the model.

    buy my laptop for £150.

Its pretty my dead & battery lasts 10 minutes (if your lucky) . A bit of silver paint & it will be fine.

+1 - Okay it's a refurb but at the same time it will be a lot more powerful than a netbook (i.e. Intel C2D CPU, larger screen resolution, etc) plus this model was a good one IMHO and also you don't see the bulk of the netbooks/light weight laptops out there having integrated optical drives (the norm would be an external USB CD/DVD drive).

Add the cost of an external drive and W7 and it would add up.

For a 2008 machine the spec was pretty good.

£150 tops in today's market though.

You can change your mind, but not your vote.

Hot deal here. Consider that it's a X-series laptop which means ultraportable and performance.

Learn to differentiate this item between those netbooks, Dell and Advent.

You will not be able to get a similar product, other than Macbook Air, with such spec and weight.

Have you ever tried lenovo's red dot ? There is no need for a touchpad at all on all X-series model.

X-series drops the rarely-used optical drive for being light, it is not something new.

    Even though it's a refurb, £174 for a C2D X-series is a good deal.
Solid machines, I've worked on a few.

The only downside is Vista, but that is fixable.

Great price I think for the spec. These machines are solid and miles better than a netbook. It's unlikely you will get a 10 minute batter!

Considering ordering one myself - just having a look around to see if there are any active discount codes left that will work with Bigpockets; if I can find one I will definetely order one as I can use it to replace a netbook I still have.
