I'd go for an i3 variant of this or lower and throw in a xeon x3450 or better
#7
the i5 badge on the machine is from the 2nd Gen onwards as the 1st gen i5 models had a different badge so it could be a i5-2450p or i5-3470, maybe something more recent but I wouldn't expect it for this price

I did say I would replace the i3 with a xeon quad core with eight threads

2nd gen i5's were released in 2011 so I'd say 2011. what do you think?

Guys, this is not a cracking deal, there are plenty of better HP USDT 8200's around £90 mark with i3's of same gen and 120-130 mark with i5s! and if you look for 8300, u can get one with ssd with third gen i5! and still cheaper than this deal... 2nd gen i5 model of 8200 usdt model goes 60-70 quid cheaper on ebay...

Potentially a 6 year old PC, seems a bit on the pricey side to me.

It's pathetic that the seller refuses to list the actual model of Optiplex. This is a Dell Optiplex 980 from 2010. He knows it has crappy 1st gen i5 CPU so he's trying to hide behind "i5 3.2GHz". The 1st Gen i5 CPU was released in late 2009, making this 8 year old technology with no USB 3.0 ports and slower than a 2nd gen i3.

This is such a bad deal that I have a feeling that the seller posted it himself. This machine is worth about £90 max and only because it has a 2TB drive.

You can buy an Optiplex 7010 with USB 3.0 ports and a 3rd gen i5 for £160.

You joined HUKD yesterday and you are pushing this deal to the hilt with your stupid "buy buy buy" and "this is a cracking deal" comments. Reported.
