We have this, and whilst it's good for picking up crumbs etc it doesn't really have much suction. Doesn't take anything off the car mats, for example.

I got one of these last time from the dyson outlet. It is great for those small vaccuming jobs around the house and car. I bought another battery (not made by Dyson) which doubles the length of time I can use it.

Had mine about 2 years and works brilliantly. I always run the battery down before charging and take it off charge once it's done. I read that's the best way to do things and it has worked for me. *(your experiences may be different, that's ok)

Refurbished with Argos, are around £40+ above this. Plus their refurbished units look new from I've been told. Also I know someone who did have an issue with a refurbished Dyson and they changed it for a new one.

The usual.... looks and a lot of hype over substance ;)

I do wonder why so many Dyson units need to be refurbished, what was wrong with them in the first instance?

I've had a few Dysons over the years, and never had a problem. They have always performed well.

You have to remember a refurbished unit is not always refurbished because it broke down. Theirs a high percentage pf returned units, were people have ordered them and returned because they used them once and returned, or had second thoughts because of the price. Catalogues too have a high volume of returns because of the distance selling regulations, or what ever they are called now.

Refurbished could mean anything from replacing tools which have not been returned, or just the checks they have to do before they are returned. Even cleaning a filter before reselling is refurbishment.

couldn't agree more!!

Got the pet version of this. Its ok but a dustpan and brush (on a long arm) is better for broken biscuits, crisps etc. This is best at refreshing a carpet before visitors to pick up the general dust. Needs far to much cleaning of the unit and head + washing of the filter to recommend for the money. Not sure we'd replace ours...

I recently purchased a refurbished Dyson only thing that looked used was the battery otherwise brand new also got 2 years warranty when I registered online.

Are you saying having received an item that was wanted and works as expected someone would return it? I find that difficult to believe. I believe most people would only return something if it doesn't work or doesn't work as well as it should. The vast number of refurbs available from Dyson reflects lack of reliability.

Awful value, even at this price. Battery life is shocking and depletes noticiably with every recharge, also it really sucks that it really doesn't suck very well at all.

Or maybe it's because they sell over 2000 cordless vacuums in the UK each week alone??

These are utterly rubbish! Can't clean internal of a car and doesn't last more than 5 minutes.

I have a friend who works for a returns department for a catalogue firm. They are constantly having having things returned which work correctly. If their is a system were people can return things, after using them once, or only planned on using things once and return it. Then people will abuse it.

I was giving examples, that refurbished, does mean repair. Not statistics, however, I'm sure online companies do have figures for returned equipment with no real reason for return.
