Similar deal to a couple of months back but now even cheaper at just £99.97 including delivery! Not the best tablet out there by any stretch of the imagination but a bargain for a device running full x86 Windows 8. Far more capable than the Windows RT powered tablets.

Note Office ins't included but available for £20 more - http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/ACER_A1-NT.L1JEK.001/version.asp

Maybe for your postcode, certainly not for all Scottish postcodes.

Can this be (legitimately) upgraded to Windows 8.1 for free?

I didnt say it was all Scottish postcodes

I am mainland UK, absolute crap how I end up paying 'extra' because of my postcode

Heard nothing but bad things about the screen on this device. I would personally go for a Venue 8 Pro
#8
Shame it doesn't have Office 2013 (or needs a £20 supplement), not quite as easy an impulse buy (a good thing though I guess!)

Is this the windows tablet to get...?
#9
I got this at £20 more. it's a great deal.

a word of caution. turn automatic windows update off and upgrade to windows 8.1 very gradually. if an update fails, you will essentially brick the tablet. system restore is not a solution with w8!

the screen is grainy and a bit washed out, but perfectly useable. if you want to watch crisp HD movies, buy an iPad.

this is for people who want a cheap, ultra portable, x86 windows computer.

Have you tried gaming? I like the look of the Surface tabs and other windows tabs running Steam, but granted this is a lot lower price point...

Wait until Scotland splits from uk. Postage will then be 40 quid.

Thanks OP. I bought one to take on holiday with me and watch a couple of films on the flight. Can't argue at the price. After my holiday I'll probably be able to sell it on eBay and get my money back. Great deal.

Not from amazon.co.sco, which will be a thing about five minutes later.

Obviously we'll have to set up HotScotDeals, so that all the whingers don't have a little cry when Morrisons starts selling Playstation 4's for the price of a box of tunnocks.

Anyone know if these would be any good to run as a plex media server with a hard drive attached?
#18
For the specs, this seems a very good deal on the surface (no pun intended)

Are there many games on Steam that work with a touchscreen? There certainly aren't many in the windows store.

Bear in mind you'll probably need to add on the cost of a high speed, high capacity micro sd card.

Very tempted, the kids have kind of assumed ownership of the two household Nexus 7's.

Ah, I believe you might have misunderstood me, if you look on some of the other threads or Youtube on more powerful tablets that run full Windows 8/8.1 they are capable of running Steam games (obviously with a keyboard and mouse connected via BT). If there was cheapish impulse buy Windows tablet capable of doing that I would probably get it!
