I'll briefly elaborate on Mulder's short response...

Mainly because the newer "iPod Classic 80Gb" can be had direct from Apple at £159.00...

http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco=6196E414&node=home/ipod/ipod

More than double the space for only £40 more. Also, if you look around for John Lewis codes then you could save another £10 or so in their online store.

Refurbs - DON"T RISK IT.

Wouldn't write something off just because it's a refurb, they tend to have a much lower failure rate than 'new' products due to the hands on nature of the refurb process. If the saving is sufficient - as in the recent DAB radio offer - then why not.

With refurbs there is no indication as to how much wear and tear the item may of had. A faulty part would of been replaced but who's to say what the mileage is on the unit as a whole. Also, refurbs often have some external damage such as scratches and marks.

Yes, sometimes you may get lucky but after the numerous stories I've read and heard about refurbs, it's without doubt a risk and really is false economy, especially when the price difference is small from new.

Don't forget, ipods batteries don't last forever and can't be replaced by the comsumer.

I would hope/expect that the batteries would have been replaced as part of the refurb process. I always go for refurbs if the saving is sufficient and I have never been disappointed. If you get direct from manufacturer, they are always completely as new, in my experience.
But if you're one of those peolpe who (possibly) always has to have a new car, then it's hard to pesuade otherwise.

Yeah they can. I've done mine. It's pretty straightforward.
