The Nikon D70s is an evolution of the award winning Nikon D70. It inherits the image quality, high performance and user-friendliness of the D70 and adds features such as a large 2.0-inch LCD monitor and new high-energy rechargeable lithium-ion battery EN-EL3a.

6.1 Megapixels
The 6.1 effective megapixel Nikon DX Format CCD image sensor features a wide dynamic range and a high signal to noise ratio which produces 3008 x 2000-pixel images with high resolution and sharp detail suitable for making large prints or cropping for creative detail.

Good prices, even for refurbs. D50 with kit lens for £264 is a bargain.

[U]About Tecno > What is considered as a REFURBISHED item?

There are lots of things that can be labeled refurbished. Some are so silly, it’s comical. However, because consumer laws prevent manufacturers from selling anything considered factory refurbished as "new", the second consumer gets the best deal.
Here are some examples :
Most major retail superstores offer a 30-day money back guarantee on their products and there are those consumers that just simply take advantage of that. These items are returned to the manufacturer, inspected and repackaged like new.
Items where the box or casing was damaged in shipment which are returned to the manufacturer.
The item was returned to the manufacturer because of a slight defect. The part that was defective was replaced by the manufacturer, tested and then repackaged just like new.
The item was returned because of a minor cosmetic blemish on the casing that was very minor.
Demonstration units are also considered factory refurbished. These units are inspected, tested and repackaged.
The box was simply opened. That’s it!
Brand new overstocked items can also be labeled refurbished.
It is impossible to know the history of each item, but for whatever reason the unit gets labeled factory refurbished it is inspected & serviced by the manufacturer or their agents, then tested and repackaged to meet original product specifications. All merchandise is warranted for 12 months by us unless otherwise specified.

So these could be 'new' and with 12 mnth warranty, nothing to lose.

I confirmed by telephone with Tecno (Jessops etc.) that their latest 'weekend offer; for the Nikon D70S including refurbished camera, 18-70 lens, CF card, Velbon tripod and Lowepro case for £359 - less tecnocpb5 voucher (£4) is correct. This is a very good price for a camera that may well survive me...

Come on guys, this deal should be hotter. Stop getting flustered over cheap Kodaks and invest in a proper camera.
#5
I suppose I should vote hot even tho' I doubt I'll be getting one unless someone wants my Canon EOS300D :)

Tecno and Jessops site don't include accessories (CF card, tripod and case) for the £359 price though. 359 is only for refurb D70s with 18-70mm lens. How did you manage to get those thrown in for that price?
Don't forget 3% quidco for jessops.

Found it on tecno main page, thanks!

That gets my vote. Been after a D70S for a while now. Looks like I might be spending money this weekend
#12
Now only available from Jessops without the kit - use sale10 or sale20 vouchers if you can find any small thing to add for free (all their stuff overepriced). Also quidco. Be quick

D70s & D50 back in stock at keen prices - they will not be there long!
#14
Wow, some great prices there... can I sneak this past the missus?!
#15
Wow the D50 is bargain! I now have a 400D though :D

i hate tecno. ordered a d70s from them when it was in stock.

then nothing. emailed 4 days later asking whats going on told out of stock and usually get more within 10 days. 4 days later instock online again and my order still says out of stock. emailed about 5 more times for another week never got a reply.

final email i told them to cancel order, cancel account and never email me again. they canceled the order so i know they were reading the emails i was sending. they just dont care.

worst customer service i have ever seen.

I'm going to seem really thick here but hoping you can help. The recent thread for the Canon 400D at Tesco had lots of intrest and yet this deal isn't promoting the same interest.

Is it because it's a refurbished product, or because it's a Nikon (I just know your going to tell me Nikon is the best make there is after my comment)

I also think I could only stretch to the D50, what do you reckon to that..... and is the D50 lens ok??

Thanks in advance :)

edit - for spelling

I've had a refurb D50 for 6 months now and it's been superb. It arrived looking as new in proper 'direct from Nikon, Refurbished' packaging - so it can't be sold on as new - but with everything sealed and packed as factory fresh. The kit lens is fine, better than many infact, but I've got an order with Pixmania for the new Sigma 18-200 Optically Stabilised lens which is due out at the beginning of May for £300.

£350 for a 3-4 year old d70s or £350 brand new canon 400d?

6.3 vs 10.8

ignore me im just bitter. i did order a d70s sold my old canon d60 to fund it. then waited like a fool and it never arrived. so the 400d thread was like a big F**k you tecno. so people could shop else where for the same price.

between me and you i would buy through jessops. same company but might be more profesional

If you are buying the D70S (now £349.99) use shop.com via Quidco for 7% discount - and consider the £39.99 5700 filter kit in the clearance section that fits the 18-70 lens. This is excellent value for UV / Polarising / ND filters.
#22
The refurbished section has just been restocked! I've ordered myself a D50! Was really peeved cos I was too late the last time!

I had a look at the D80 last night. Nice specs, but the recon is only a few quid cheaper than new? Why would you spend £680 on a recon when it can be bought new for £15 more?
The D50 is a very good deal though.

the d50 with 18-55 came back in stock today.
£259
Use bounce5 (or was it bounce05) to get another £5 off.
#26
thanks just grabbed d50 cheers
#27
and just recommended to three friends who will also get D50s, ta very much.
#28
Would you recommend the D50 over a brand new Olympus E-500 + 14-45mm + 40-150mm dual lens kit, for £360? I'm in the "aaaaaaaaah too many choices" stage at the moment.

Absolutely, in fact I have emailed Tecno to ask why they are pricing the refurb so high, even more so considering the new stock comes with a better lens! No reply as of yet, it's been a few days so doubt I'll get one. My initial "wow" comment was regarding the D50 :) Would be great if they sorted out the price on the D80, though.

That's right. I'd rather pay around £450 for the D80, but the D50 is a nice camera nonetheless. If you are happy to accept the lower pixel count, then it's great. But if I spend that sort of money, then i'd like to do it right :)
There are cameras, then there are cameras.

This filter kit now seems to be just 9.99 - about a tenth of the price in some places A bargain if they do indeed also fit the 18-70 (ie if they are a standard 67mm fit).

any chance of the d50s coming back in stock? :(
#35
I think they mean that it's a discontinued model and no loger official sold by Nikon. But they still sell it.

So annoyed. Placed an order on here for a refurbed camera and the evil company had cancelled it!! Gutted!!
#39
tecno or cameraworld?

For Brett or kemot1984, or any other takers. I've got the D50 kit, lovely, lovely, lovely camera, :) now.......

What can I carry it in, I need a bag any sugestions?

Also are there any other essential buys?

Cheers guys
