REFURBISHED Packard Bell EasyNote Sandybridge i5-2410M, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, 15.6" 1366x768, £284.98 delivered @Dixons
This was listed just over 2 weeks ago but was expired (presumably because stock ran out?). However it's currently showing as instock.
A sub-£300 sandybridge i5 laptop is a fairly rare occurance worthy of being reposted IMHO, even if it is a refurb.

Packard bell parent company is acer when they took over it in 2008
I'm sure that would be shocking news to Packard Bell.
Appears so.
The 2nd configuration is gone too.
Oh well - hope the lucky few are happy with their purchase!

The i5 in the deal was right on the boundary of what I consider to be a sensible configuration (in terms of CPU to GPU power ratio) - I wouldn't want to spend any more on the CPU without significantly improving the GPU.
Tbh I'd much prefer a high clock speed i3 paired with a decent dedicated GPU; but unfortunately such configurations rarely crop up at crazily discounted prices.
However if your typical workload falls into one of those niche use-cases where you can utilize 4+ cores, and have no need for GPU speed then I suppose that i7 might make sense.
- I place little importance upon RAM, as it's so cheap and easy to upgrade.
- As for HDD, so long as there is space to install all the programs I need, additional space just acts as temptation to store data on the laptop; generally considered to be a 'bad idea'.
- Battery capacity is a nice bonus, but would never factor into my purchase choice - as they are by their very nature consumables so can/will be replaced.
