There is an auxiliary speaker that can be added too if required. The Pure site has the list of accessories including the speaker, battery pack, and remote:

Apparently so, if the NAS provides uPnP support.

I already have a Pure Oasis in the bathroom - great sound quality. This will replace my Sony DAB clock radio in the bedroom.

Would love to get one of these for streaming off a NAS box, but a lot of (end-user) reviews I've seen suggest the interface is dreadful for this. E.g. only caches a few names at a time, they're not sorted alphabetically, searching doesn't work consistently etc.

Does anyone know if this still applies, or has there been an upgrade to the firmware?

Many thanks!

Still has 6 months warranty and is a great saving over new price, so what's the problem? As OP points out, it's also a big saving over other refurb prices if you want to compare like for like.

Does this little beauty take AA batteries? I know you can buy the rechargeable battery pack but want to know if it will run off some powerful enough rechargeable AAs in my bathroom?
#23
Great deal. Ordered.

You should put 'internet radio' or 'wi-fi' in the title.
#24
Hmmm thinking about this as an upgrade to this radio I bought last year...

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/fm-dab-wifi-internet-radio-37-82-m/569075

...which has been great but is mains powered only and I really need a portable one so this may be the one...

Does seem to have issues with the display failing rendering the item useless.

Wouldn't this behaviour depend to some degree on the UPnP server used by the NAS? The track navigation options on my Reciva based radios are much better when using TVersity as the server from a PC as opposed to using Twonky from my NAS.

I have one of these, brilliant radio. I especially like it being able to find out what music I am listening to (90% of the time) and being able to buy it.

On the negative side, i bought a refurb evoke-1 xt and it went titsup 1 month out of warranty.

voting hot though for the great price

This does look a good deal. I have been reading some reviews on this model, which are very mixed. Most people say that the issues could be fixed with a firmware upgrade, but how old is this model, the reviews I read started in 2008, so it may no longer be supported, anyone know?
#30
As it is Morgan + screen problem..looks too risky even with 6 months warranty.. as it is the buyer's postage cost to return faulty unit for repairs.
#31
Much as I love the Pure unit in my bedroom I use as an alarm clock, with its great and intuitive interface, I have to say I bought a second one refurb from Morgan and the display died after a few months, rendering it useless.

If I buy another I'll use Amazon or John 'Often Knowingly Undersold' Lewis.
#32
These are cracking little Radio's with Great reviews everywhere, even What HiFi rated it 5 Stars if you take their biased reviews seriously. I have several Pure Dab products and unfortunately they all failed after a period of time, Basically, Great Product, But its gonna break at some point. Thats guaranteed. The screen seems a common fault on this model. On the other hand, Roberts Radio's are great.
#33
HOT HOT HOT. ordered one of these babies. Although I rarely believe in buying refurbs I thought with 6 months waranty and at that much of a reduction in price it was woth a punt...

Yeah, after something to do this job too - rather than use an old laptop...

Whatever they tell you this isn't strictly correct. Most retailers will require that you pay the postage initially to cover themselves against time-wasters but you are within your rights to ask/demand for the postage to be refunded IF the returned item is found to be faulty. if they refuse threaten them with trading standards.

Maybe im one of the only people that dont rate this radio! I have 4 internet radios (dont ask!) and this one was absolutely, completely and utterly rubbish. Dropped connections, frequent reboots required, and terrible 'touch' buttons that always look dirty. I sold this radio with 2 weeks of getting it. Good sound quality though. Get a Roberts unit if you ask me......

I am not sure why you had so many problems. I have never had to reboot it once, it's never dropped a single connection and the touch buttons are a thing of beauty. I think you were just unlucky and had a duff one or it just didn't suit your aesthetic tastes.

For £49.99 this radio is a steal.

If the thing works and lasts well beyond the 6 month warranty period then this is about the best deal on the site at the moment in my opinion.

yeh a roberts with illogical setup

had 2 alarm clocks, still have one

1st one cost £120ish - alarm set - quite low.....1st day blarred out full volume, woke whole house and nearly gave me a heart attack, radio nearly chucked out the window....2nd day did same...checked and all setip ok...replacement did same....oh and couldnt dim the display enough so had to switch off display so pointless, if you left it on low then its great if you like someone to shine a torch in your face

2nd one fared slightly better was £50 but sometimes radio comes on and turns itself on full vol...seems to had if you keep the vol button pressed then switch off....if you press the vol then let go then switch off its ok, totally stupid design....now for the worst dumb design....to change the alarm time/day you have to turn on the radio....totally stupid and design by some idiot who lives alone

sound is good but setup on roberts radios are a joke and design by a bunch of illogical monkeys and apart from a couple of radios they all look ugly and designed by old f**t with no style....what is it with the laminate wood covering
