Bargain,great machine

Wouldn't touch any refurb kit from Argos ebay outlet. Brand new isn't too bad from them, but you're asking for trouble with refurbs.
You'll be lucky to get exactly what you pay for, and if anything goes wrong good luck dealing with their non-existent support team.

i agreee my mate had big trouble with argos clearence

good machine, great price. Argos refurbs can be hot or miss - I have been lucky but having read some threads, others have not.
#5
Got one a couple of days ago when they had been reduced to £169.99 great little netbook, easy to use and good long battery life 6 hours.
Wish I'd waited a couple of days so I could have got for this price, but am happy coz I feel comp is worth what I paid
Heat n rep added(_;)..............Well I would add rep if I could work out how to do it on this new layout!!
#6
I wouldn't buy anything from Argos clearance, the risk just isn't worth it.

I don't agree. The risk is small. My refurb was in "as new" condition.
If your item isn't working or you are not happy, just return it within 7 days under the distant selling act and ask for a refund.

Why the ppl who complain didn't just do that???

I ordered this machine now after I first received the Samsung NC10 from them. The netbook was great, but I was not happy with the 3-cell battery. Return was accepted within minutes after requesting it, lets hope now that it works out well with the N130.
#9
Good deal. I've bought 2 refurb netbooks from argos clearance and they've been brand new. Have had no issues at all, won't hesitate to use them again.

I ordered the MSI U130 for this price from Argos clearance and found the service to be very good. Very quick delivery. To save any problems I suggest that you do a full system reset and this should avoid any problems. The item I received was brand spanking new.
#11
There is also cashback from Quidco

Argos clearance are complete and utter cowboys. Bought from them twice, the first item was 2nd hand and the second time the item didn't work from the off. Major headache trying to get things sorted, 2nd time I had to file a Paypal complaint to get my money back after Argos clearance had had the item back for about 5 days. Avoid them at all costs, HUKD really should ban AC "bargains" from being allowed on here. Argos may well be a reputable company, Argos clearance most certainly is not.

It clearly states in the T&C for refunds that the money will be credited back within 7 days after receiving the returned item....

Just bought one now, they are disappearing quick so I thought I would give it a go. Will post a quick review of the condition when it turns up next week.
#15
Bought one as well, will post when I get it too
#16
Using one now, bought from Argos auctions in April, great machine! Came with a 1 year warranty too.
#17
good deal!

Does this have the 6 Cell battery?

What it states in their terms and conditions is often very different to the experience you have. And if it's over 7 days that you have problems, forget it!

I think banning a Argos Clearance Bargains on the face of 1 bad experience is slightly drastic. My first and only experience with them was fantastic, I got a product at a very good price and it was in perfect condition.

and then wait for a couple of months for a refund...... no replies to emails ... if fact no customer service at all...if a private individual traded on ebay the same they would be banned.

Dreadfull company to deal with.

As i understand it, the Samsung N130 is v similar to the netbook 'daddy' the Samsung NC10, except that a) the battery has a lower capacity (still a perfectly respectable 5-6 hrs though) and b) it's got a mono speaker (but plays stereo thru the headphone socket). Argos store price is £229, same at Amazon and most other places. At £153 it therefore looks like a very good deal to me. Only slight niggle is the 'refurb' bit but worth it given the cash saving. I would also take comfort in the fact they have a large batch of them to sell and the chances are you'll get a good 'un (AC have 99.2% positive feedback) . If you dont, send it back. Good spot. H&R to the OP.

I'm a bit put off by Argos on ebay. They have some decent deals, but the neg feedback is colossal! So is the positive as it happens.

Have been looking at Dell outlet. Found a decent laptop but there's no specs for memory on the one I was about to order! Would this mean there's no memory installed!?

Surely they wouldn't sell a laptop without memory?
#24
STOP!!!

How is this a bargain? £153 for a refurb machine? I bought a brand new one, similar spec (asus 1001) for £179, so for the sake of £26 more you can buy a brand new one.

How this can be a bargain is beyond me.

Stop around!!!

I was going by my poor memory, I checked back based on your comment and it was actually day 9 when I put a Paypal claim in.

2 from just me. Hundreds of people have had issues with them, many on here too. It's too much like 50/50 if your get the correct product, that it isn't used and that it even works, I don't mind the occasional gamble but not when it comes to retailers.

Ebay won't ban them and never will, they make Ebay too much money. HUKD have nothing to lose though.

Were did you find a brand new Asus 1001 for £179?

Nice one - you got a good purchase for £179. Was that a Staples offer on a few months back and long since gone? No offence intended but the purpose of this thread, as i understand it, is to discuss whether the Argos Clearance Outlet offer for the Samsung N130 is a hot deal compared to all other Samsung N130 market place offers - right here, right now. On that basis, IMHO i think it is a good deal and in fact l have just ordered one.

Seriously considering getting one of these for my girlfriends birthday. I was also seriously considering the Zoostorm deal that was on here yesterday, also from Argos Clearance on Ebay. The only thing stopping me ordering the Samsung just now is that fact that it's running XP. Is it worth paying a bit more for a similar spec. netbook running Windows 7?
#31
Never heard of the brand Zoostorm before, so for me it was an easy decision to go for the Samsung. OK specs and good reviews. I have machines with XP and WIN7 on it, and to be honest, for me it is still Windows XP all the way.
#32
Hi, anyone know what courier service they use?
Thanks.

For netbooks you actually want XP on it, as it will always be the fastest due to the limited hardware on netbooks.
#36
This is the 6 cell battery lasts for 6 hours
I've had this for 2 days now and am more than happy
Would recommend at this price:)

As already mentioned a few posts ago, I bought the MSI U130 from Argos clearance for £149.99 and it had a one year guarantee. Last week I saw one go on ebay for £215 and it was second hand and therefore came with no warranty... I know who I'd rather use. These are refurbished so therefore don't expect everything to go rosy all the time (although many have had much success without any serious problems). Reset the system and update all drivers and you should have little to worry about, some people have seriously unrealistic high expectations...

I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate and my MSI flies along. I have Office 2010, Spotify, itunes and much more all running very well indeed. Windows 7 Starter has some limitations such as not being able to change the desktop background and not being able to output the desktop to another monitor, even though the netbook has the correct connection. If you want to output to an LCD TV like I do then XP or a full version of Windows 7 would be a better choice.
