Hi, does anyone know what kind of condition these come in?

i.e. do they have marks/scratches etc? Or are they new laptops, just old stock?

Thanks

There's definitely been a bit of cut and pasting of descriptions, but the processor model is correct - it's a Pentium Dual Core T2330, not a Core 2 Duo.

I was very tempted by this...

You can see a video of the model on the m&s website - direct link below.

Sorry, just me being silly. I've had 2 now, these are absolutely as new, apart from the sticker on the bottom saying 'refurbished product' It's one of those security stickers that split into a million pieces when you try to remove them so take it off with a hairdryer..

My therory - get a no name Celeron for £299, or a Sony Vaio dual core - was a no-brainer for me.

Courtster calm down before somebody accuses you of working for Telephones online....lol

|s this a fairly quick laptop ?

If they were out of stock, they've got more now. My brother bought one yesterday.
#21
Is this any good, I've not really kept up with recent laptop technology?
#22
Hi.

Would the Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 be able to play games that are pretty new? Can't make any sense of it from the specs

Cheers

There's a lot of good deals on there:
http://www.telephonesonline.co.uk/_laptops.asp
Say I had a maximum of 650.00 to spend and I wanted a laptop for Internet, watching movies and some gaming (Football Manager, Sims). and I wanted something relatively lighweight (not a major requirement). What would be the best option?
Thanks!

Is this worth purchasing or is it more wise to await a deal like this? (especially as am not in a rush to purchase)

Bought this exact same laptop brand new for the same price last July from Littlewoods direct so might be a decent deal for some but not a great deal to me. Nice laptop though. Very stylish in Silver.

You seem a little confused, This is a Core 2 chip (a Merom) with the Pentium Dual-Core branding. It's perfectly accurate to say it uses Core 2 Duo technology as exactly the same chip was previously used for some of Intel's T5### and T7### series Core 2 duo branded chips.

Not really, it's one of the slowest graphics chips you can currently get on a laptop. It's part of the Minimum specifications for The Sims 3 which is a very undemanding game. You're not likely to get that much better on a £300 laptop though.
#27
My brother and a friend of mine have both bought exactly this laptop from Telephones Online. They came completely as new (no scratches and marks).
#28
And no this probably won't play Crysis/Sims 3/Fifa 09 but would probably play less demanding things like Football Manager and older games.
#29
heat from me I own one of the 21z series (decided to go for that one for the dedicated graphics chip and the T8100 processor) and that laptop has not disappointed me at all it's stylish without being flashy which is nice and the keyboard is one of the best laptop keypads out there. Only downside which this model will probably share also, is the lack of a HDMI or DVI output, only VGA but if you can live with that then all good.

If you can land a Vostro, then I would wait. Every component in Vostro is much newer than Sony's and justifies extra 50.

Unfortunately, T2330 is not a Core 2 Duo chip. It's is a dual core - Core Duo brand. Difference between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo is about 7-10% given same frequency and bus speeds.

Yep, this has 1MB of cache, while all Core Duo or Core 2 Duo chips have at least 2MB, the Pentium Dual Core chips are more like Celerons.

It's not that easy to tell the difference between them. Most of T2xxx CPUs are two Pentium M (Yonah) put together. They do not support 64-bit, but this one (T2330) does.
Core 2 Duo chips are 65nm Merom architecture with 64-bit support.
Newest Core 2 Duo chips are 45nm Penryn architecture.
This one is some sort of hybrid. Possible that it's crippled Merom.

Used Telephones online to buy this refurbished laptop few weeks ago http://www.telephonesonline.co.uk/details.asp?ProdID=2424
I must say that I am impressed with this laptop. It works like a dream - so far. It came in its own box, with a refurbished sticker on the base of the laptop. You can download the manuals from their website. The service I received from the company was also excellent. All in all, in these days of recession, if you can get the same item cheaper, why not go for it and before anybody accuses me of working for the company - I DO NOT :whistling:.
