I think the £659.99 is probably from a couple of years ago? I guess tho for £300, its a deal. Are these a reputable company? Any dealings anyone?

And would this be the best use of my 300 quid as looking for a better laptop on a budget at the mo?
#2
Had a few business Desk phones off them with no problem.. Also on Quidco http://www.quidco.com/telephones-online/
#3
I used them for a pair of home cordless telephones (what else!) earlier this year. Had no problems.
#4

£300 for a C2D is a fantastic price imo...well-deserved H&R added.

I personally think this would be a great choice, unless your mum is a heavy gamer (that wasn't meant to sound offensive)! Here's a review that should help u make up your mind:

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/index.cfm?reviewid=1751

Note that this lappie is quite heavy and there are lighter ones available, but in terms of specification you will be hard pushed to find a better laptop for the price. Hope this helps...

Want one with a better graphics card really

awesome deal

i have the NR38E and am very pleased with it - this is an absolute steal!
#13
SO what if it has been refurbd' - to me its often better as it has been phsyically checked/refurb'd in factory. HOT deal

It's definitely a decent deal, but personally I prefer this - http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_A300-1Rs_Laptop_PSAG9E-01800XEN/version.asp?PID= - which is the one I'm leaning towards in my laptop search. It's admittedly £30 more, but you get a better processor, better graphics chip (although both onboard Intel so neither is exactly great), built in camera, and it's a little bit lighter. And it's new rather than refurbished. Only thing worse is a 160GB hard drive rather than the Sony's 200GB one. Getting that price does require registering with Toshiba to get the £50 cashback though.

Toshiba are also doing a promotion right now where if you register it with them and it goes wrong inside the warranty, they both fix it and give you your money back. God knows how easy that would ever be to claim, but it's another potential bonus.

This Sony one's about as good as you're going to manage if you absolutely don't want to spend over £300 though.

And how exactly is an Intel® Pentium® dual-core T3400 processor better than an Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 processor?
#17
this is on the website for the toshiba one
"Processor - Intel Pentium T3400 / 2.16 GHz ( Dual-Core )"

this is on the website for the sony one
"Processor Intel Core 2 Duo T5450, clocked at 1.66 Ghz "

And how exactly is an Intel® Pentium® dual-core T3400 processor better than an Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 processor?

The T3400 is faster and more powerful than the T5450 (even though the number's lower). This site - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php - is the one I've mostly been using for comparisons, although there are many others. As posted above, the speed is usually more relevant than the name/number (although not always).

I love the double standards on this site.

I posted a deal from this seller about six months ago. It was immediately taken down and I got a telling off from the mods - just because they also sell things on ebay... like dozens of retailers posted about here.

Have bought a few things from their site. Was decent enough service.

Ordered and quidco tracked at 18.00 why expired
#22
hot hot deal
#23
bought previously from that site, refurbished laptop was all right, but came with only charger and not in original boxing, returned back. but for this price i think it worths every penny...
#24
got similar one from agos for 350 in clearnace but brand new. i tgink its worth it.

lukewarm for this.
#25
It doesn't specify how much RAM it has. Anyone got any idea?
#26
It says it's got 2GB DDR2 RAM. Click on the Specifications tab.
#27
Think I may have bought their last one showing as out of stock now :-D
#28
out of this, the Sony VAIO VGN-NR32S/S, and the Sony VAIO NR38E/S, which one is the best value for money? I think the NR38E/S is around the same price, with a very similar spec.

cheers
