You should put REFURB in the title.....

Looks pretty good for what you're getting. I haven't had experience of Argosclearance but I've read positive reviews.

This might be useful for anyone buying one: http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/76250-zoostorm-freedomxl-10-2-netbook.html

Anyone else bought a refurb from Argos Clearance before?

Sounds ok, though their is always a higher risk of getting a faulty item if its a refurb

I did and mine was perfect, as new. But I've also read problems with this company (which actually isn't Argos).

If you do get this one, consider installing a full Windows 7 (the Starter version is awful). I cleared my hard disk and put Windows 7 Ultimate on and it runs much faster.

I bought a refurb sony DSLR from them, which was faulty, the memory card slot was damaged. They would not offer exchange only refund. But as I got it at a good price I got it repaired by sony no problem.

think this will get v hot bought 8.9" one with xp few months ago was brand new and same price.
#8
very nice deal

The fact they have 1000 of them may suggest you will get a new one, surely they don't have 1000 returns!!

Maybe reinstalling the wifi driver is what prompted all the returns and the "refurbishment" release???

Hey,
Why do I now have to login EVERYTIME I open HDUK. Even when I check "Remember me", it doesn't! Also my avatar now looks ridiculous and I can't even quote a previous comment - see above!

If t's not broke, don't fix it - well it's broke now alright!

Hi

I wonder if any of you can answer a couple of basic questions for a computer numpty!

Firstly, I just want to take this with me when I go on holiday and use it as an internet access machine, probably very little more. Will it be perfectly suitable for that with little or no modification? Also, will it accept one of those mobile internet dongle things?

Secondly, the Wi Fi problem mentioned in the comments here, will that have been fixedby the refurb or will it still need sorting? I refer to this comment and the link in the thread:

Maybe reinstalling the wifi driver is what prompted all the returns and the "refurbishment" release???

Being able to have a working wi fi is VERY important to me as that is basically all I plan to use it for and am not confident in making changes to machines.

Anyone got it and found the Wi Fi working/not working?

Many thanks for any infornation for this computer no hoper :-)

Cheers

LOL. That's the problem, I'm no longer 10 any more, nor even 20 or 30, so have no confidence in these new fangled machines ;-)

As a matter of interest I sent the seller an email and this was the, unhelpful, automated, response:

Over £100 for a licensed copy of Ultimate though....

The company IS Argos. Registered in Milton Keynes and they trade out of Corby in Northants (visit it now and again when I have the time).

They've sold something in the range of a million items - all the details that most people will need are on the page.

They've sold something in the range of a million items - all the details that most people will need are on the page.

By and large I agree, but wouldn't it be nice to think that there was a human being at the end of the line to answer any simple questions that might not be covered on the page? Personally I would find that reassuring. Even if they have to say they can't answer the question, that's fine-but to just have a blanket: we can't help you, to EVERY question seems poor customer relations to me.

Of course, just my personal opinion.

Have a bit of trouble editing my posts; sometimes the edit option works, sometimes it doesn't.

Give me a webpage to find out what I want to know any day. I've spoken to real people before for help and they're not always what they're cracked up to be !

I would put linux on it, instead of spending £100 on a windows license. imho, linux is faster and more seamless and less hassle to upgrade. i use debian myself, but would suggest ubuntu for newbies. i replaced windows with ubuntu for a couple of my cousins who are not particularly computer literate, and they are more than happy now... :-)

.

I wonder why Argos closed the first listing and started a new one? I can't see any difference. But soon someone will expire this so you should probably start a new one (giving due credit to the OP, of course).

Excellent deal. They wont be returns imo if they have that many of them, and argos have only been selling these for afew months so I doubt they are gonna be really abused units. Very good value indeed. I just got the MSI wind u135 from carp[hone warehouse the other week and my dad is never off it so I think I will buy him this as his own. Even a almost a better spec than mine with 250gb hdd. hot!
#32
correct me if i'm ill informed... i thought the N270 was 1.6ghz?
#33
Does this have the Ion chipset?.

I have bought many refurb products, ie laptops & dslr's, they will still come with a 12 month warranty & I have never had a problem. They look just as a new one does but maybe have slightly different labels or packaging. If its been refurbed it will have gone through further & more checks than a standard new to double check its now working with new components fitted.
#35
No longer available? Even though it shows as 973 in stock??
#37
view the item listed in the shop, and filter on laptops the left

Any idea what the graphic chip is?
