I bought this the other day... FANTASTIC! Opened the box (which is identical to normal apart from the fact it has refurb on it) and the console could be easily mistaken for brand new, no signs of use anywhere. Has protective stickering all over it. MFR date October 08. Also had like brand new wireless controller, 512mb mem card, psu, av cables, arcade game disk. BEST PURCHASE EVER!!

What about warranty? Can you register these with Microsoft and get the full 3years RROD warranty or just whats remaining from the manufacturing date.

You can try.
You get a year with game. You could always forget to mention that it was a refurb and claim you should still get the 3 year warranty from date of purchase.

Do game deal with the console for the whole 3 years or do they say send back to M$ after the first 12months. If so, M$ would know its a refurb from the serial number I expect.

Or if your worried ring Microsoft and ask how much to extend the warranty, before the RROD i paid £42 for an extra 3 years which covers me for everything including power brick.

I would check if Asda has any 60gig pro left for £120 new , they had restocked in my local Asda last week after selling out

i phoned game the other week to ask how much i would get to trade in my xbox. they offered me £55 trade in or £45 cash so they are making a big mark up when selling them foe £99.
i ended up sticking it on e bay and got £100 for it!!

Also got a refurb 60gb model for £105 from game online delivered about a month ago (included a 5 quid off voucher that may still be on the go). When I opened it to modify it, there was 2 repair stickers from Game both saying E74 repair and it had game warranty stickers on it instead of the MicroShaft ones. Also the DVD drive was on its last legs, wouldnt read discs sometimes.

Anyhow it lasted 1 week and then E74 - suprise suprise

Took it back to game who said I had to return it to MicroShaft if its RROD or E74 told em that wouldnt be happening so after a bit of fuss got another one which was a MS refurb ( the microsoft refurb box as shown in post 1) its factory refurbished with a brand mobo and new dvd drive, well pleased. But beware if its in a plain box you may get a really crap console.

Calling it a refurb is very much glossing over the fact that these are second hand consoles.

Being a refurb I believe by law Game only have to offer a three month warranty and nothing more.

I'm also under the impression that the 3 year RROD/E74 warranty starts from the date of the original purchase - not the date of when YOU purchased it.

Toilet roll, tampons, condoms and Xbox 360's should never ever be purchased second hand.

I have seen them brand new for this price.
I cannot recommend a refurb to anyone.
It would have to be the PRO to even start getting warm.

get a year warranty but can extend the warranty in store as well at time of purchase. varies between 14.99 to 19.99 but worthwhile.

lol :-D yep, brand new xboxes are garbage that will break, don't even think about "refurbs" - which means broken once then repaired !

Hi

Found some more information about Gamecare on the GAME website when I was looking at some offers.

http://www.game.co.uk/lowdown.aspx?lid=7125

It seems to cover accidental damage and extends the manufacturers breakdown warranty for up to 3 years even on pre-owned consoles. Jjust need to make sure its purchased with 45 days of buying the console.

I personally think 2 years cover would be enough as i'd probably upgrade after this time anyway.

Hopefully the 360 will have been equiped with a Blu-ray player by this time.:whistling:
