regarding this lidl 1 http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_10210.htm id stay away from u if i was u, my mate got 1 for glastonbury last year and woke up afloat and soaked, its crap in the rain and more akin to the beach tents u can buy for 8 quid - i was fin in my quechua, but they are at least double the price.

If you're dithering about camping, you can't go wrong at 35 sovs, even if it lasts you only 1 trip.

I love camping, but I am very strict and only ever plan a trip when I know the sun is going to crack the flags. Can't beat a warm summer night, kids in the campsite playground, and a nice bottle of red open.

It's the mugs who take on a wet weekend in May who moan how bad camping is.

Found this here http://www.regatta.com/regatta-news.asp and fleshed out the best bits:

"Regatta is venturing further into the world of camping with the launch of its first tent range under the exclusive license of Argos.

With six tent styles, the new range has something for festival go-ers and family campers alike...ideal for all conditions with extra thick ground sheets and taped seams to ensure complete weatherproofing.

All tents have been designed to high specification with a hydrostatic head of 2000mm, reflective safety guys and fire retardant materials.

Available in the new Argos catalogue, online and through over 700 Argos stores nationwide, the range includes a...4 person Dome tent at...£69.99"

Seems worth a punt to me, although if the only place licensed to sell it is trying to shift them at half price then perhaps £35 is its realistic value.

Nevertheless, I've ordered one. Have some heat and rep.

Cheers

Sorry funkykid, I'm pedantic

That said, I quite like a well constructed sentence.

These tents even though specified as a "4person" barely hold 2 large people. I recently bought 2 of these http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/655500/pro-action-4-person-torre-tent-24-9 for the V festival and fully intend to leave behind as they are light weight and rather crap - BUT, they do withstand a rain storm etc. You would be better off with the cheaper version I posted rather than the £10 more expensive advertised one.
If you cant still get them at Argos (where I got mine PLUS the half price lights) then Homebase do the same ones and a website called "Playright" i think? (Google it)

thanks! think I am gona get one of these to take with me to LE MANS this year!!!!! :)

Calling all camping gurus...is this a decent tent for general outdoor camping - camp sites, parks, woodlands etc ?? Is it of durable quality? Ideal for scottish weather?

Furi0n-

For £35 and it having 2000HH, you can't go wrong for a festival weekend or a few weekends away.

Just if you're going for any longer you'd want to get a larger one with more space.

Hope that helps!

2000mm hydrostatic head is fine for British weather. Eurohike were 1500mm last year which would let water in, this year they've dropped to 1200mm, absolutely useless!

When I look for tents, that 2000mm is the first thing I look at, everything below that gets excluded. I go for wild camping with no backup, so I like to remain dry. Next you're going on reviews where people post four more qualities.

1) Whether it stands up to light gale force winds without the poles breaking off
2) Whether the tabs and straps to attach the poles break too easily during construction
3) condensation issues! Very important, if you get damp inside, you get cold, ill and unhappy.
4) weight. anything over 4kgs (for 3 people) you are not going to want to backback with. you can stick a heavier tent in the car or take on public transport as long as you are dropped off at gates of the festival/camp site)

However, I doubt very few here are serious campers, so this tent will do fine. Otherwise you are looking at £60 for a Kyman: Sherpa or Nomad, decent quality 4 man tents.

I bought this tent for taking the kids on scout camp, its fab! Very easy to put up, even for a woman - you don't need massively long man arms like you do for some. Lol! It's very waterproof, 7 solid hours of heavy rain proved that. It's just as easy to take down and with a bit of effing and jeffing goes back into it's original bag. All in all I was well impressed and I don't like camping!
