Looks good but how HD will the picture be? I have an HDTV which automatically upscales from my DVD player via scart, so there should be some improvement using an HDMI cable but how much? Has anyone got one of these or similar who can shed any light?
#2
Best to go and have a look in the AVForums forum on DVD/upscalingDVD at:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=41

Have seen two such players on family HD TVs - a £45 Aldi and a £80 Sony - in use myself and both gave a noticably improved picture. How much is due to fully digital processing and cabling, and how much to which chip where is doing upscaling I'm not sure, but I'd certainly consider it.

hdmi will make a difference on its own.
we have a cheap phillips, and it looks great.
#4
It does tick all the right boxes though as it has all the necessary inputs/outputs, including SCART, plays DIVX and comes supplied with an HDMI plus a DVI cable. Signal to noise ratio looks good and overall it's a pretty good spec. for the money. I believe that RELISYS have a good reputation in the PC Monitor area.
#5
I realise that those with an HD telly will use the HDMI or DVI connections but a SCART connection is a must for those without and who don't want to start pratting around with progressive cables, etc. Some of the cheap DVD players seem to miss out the SCART output.

Is there a region hack for this? Or is it strictly region 2?
#7
^^ yep:-

1. Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray 2. Press the 0 button on your remote control 3. Press the 0 button on your remote control 4. Press the 0 button on your remote control 5. Press the 0 button on your remote control 6. Press the Enter button on your remote control to select 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 0 for multi-region playback 7. Press the Open button on your remote control to close the drive tray

Don't forget free delivery on orders over £49.99. Rather than give Ebuyer £5+ for delivery you might as well add another £10 of stuff. I know this is obvious but thought it worth mentioning.

Great deal, voted hot!
Looks really nice, has HD upscaling, HDMI & DVI with leads, 5.1 output, plays Xvid. If it had a USB slot it would be the perfect budget DVD player.

Remember that if you spend £50 you get free delivery.
Plenty of £10-20 bargains in the hotukdeals archive.

If anyone is looking for a cheap dvd player that plays divx but the HDMI is not a requirement the £30 bush dvd player from Argos looks a good option.
