Good price for a dumb terminal, people need to know that these need a server computer to connect to otherwise it's no good to Joe average.

I run a chain of shops and I am indeed simply a geek.
I also belong to the much maligned 99%.
Soooooo, what does it do?

Simply put, you Plug Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and Network cable in and it allows you to connect to a server and open a remote session on the server without having to have a full blown PC in situ. you can print to networked printers etc but have no local CD or HDD, hence the price but you will need to buy a CALs to connect them to your server

Actually this has a 32MB flash drive. You could wipe Windows CE and install QNX onto it instead. Use it to browse the web.

Or why not turn it into a print server, USB NAS box or networked webcam!?

Or stick it into the shop window and hook up a few monitors (multiplexer needed), to display product prices/pictures.

Having a stereo audio out you could even use it to cheaply stream music.

Any websites with guides?

I take it this cant be used to simply TS to another computer?

I am thinking if we can plug a USB pen drive and use it as a Harddrive?
#8
I'm in for one, thanks. This is exactly what I'm looking for.

One thing to keep in mind is that the company no longer exists, so there won't be any vendor support for this product. http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2007/03/26/relisys_stopped_trading/

Its perfect for Citrix users..

and in turn http://hotukdeals.com/item/375135/citrix-support/:)

"support for Microsoft RDP" suggests it might be possible, however I've not played with one of these in years.

Just install *nix and use VNC.

That's what I meant with USB NAS box. Obviously you would have replace the software on it.

Oh actually you meant running the operating system off the usb drive? Sure, also the active boot partition will likely have to be on the in-built flash memory (doubt it can boot from usb).
#13
will this run freenas? can the 32mb flash memory be expanded *I think freenas needs a bit more than 32mb)?

Just specifications unfortunately.

Relisys seems to has gone belly up. The website no longer exists and Archive.org didn't map the product pages.

If we can boot from USB, it will be great!

Used to use these, regular failures :-(

I don't think that is possible - thin clients are best viewed as very long keyboard/mouse/monitor extension leads that connect you to a server. The thin client should only have enough CPU power to connect to the server and handle communications to it, but not much more power beyond that.

damn, these could have been great for work (where we use citrix a lot)
showing as out of stock now though :(

Try checking your nearest store for stock.

Set mine up today... to slow to browse the net really on the thin client its self... but hukd did load after about 5 or so seconds.

Really comes into its own for RDP... fast as anything - really impressed... will use this to connect to everyone that i support rather than using a laptop now!

VNC is already on this, both server and viewer!

I've got one one these.
Do you get an issue with a "double mouse pointer" when you move it under RDP?
(into windows server 2003)

Maybe I need an firmware update?
#23
ummm, i havent had that issue...

and i can find no firmware at all for these!
