nice looking sofa for £300 voted hot

Just put Land of Leather into Google and you might change our mind about buying from them. Land of Leather are like most sofa companies by always having sales or promotions so don't be mislead by thinking this is a bargain. I don't know anyone who has ever paid `full' price for a sofa. [/2p]

Dont forget its Leather Match not 100% Leather. Save your money and buy a quality set, Land of Leather also not the best company to deal with when it comes to Warranty!! Search Google and you will see for yourself....

i bought the hilken set last year and i'm really pleased with it,
that consisted of a three seater settee a twin seater settee and an armchair that are all recliners and we had four cushions and a throw for the settee thrown in that was for £699 and the delivery charge was £59 last year.
the furniture is nice and our order came two weeks earlier than expected.

wasnt this on watchdog about making you itch?

Ordered a 4 piece leather suite in their February one day sale. Told they had overstocked and the suites were available immediately.
Sold our old suite, decorated, bought curtains & cushions to match & awaited delivery.
3 other people ordered same suite at same branch of Land of Leather
They took our money & kept it for 6 weeks, never got in touch and when we called no-one could tell us when we would take delivery and never got back to us after numerous calls.
Manager was on holiday & regional manager refused to speak to us.
Eventually a staff member told us no-one at that branch ever received these suites advertised on TV in their one day sale at £499 and said there wouldn't be anymore coming in.
We could either choose another suite or get a refund.
When refund didn't go through we had to pester to get it.
Is it worth all the hassle to get nothing but worry with a company that treats its customers so badly and whose share value has fallen dramatically!
Make your own minds up!

Bought 2 recliner sofa's just over 3 yrs ago, only problem we suffered was delivery date, ended up phoning them 2 weeks before delivery date and saying we needed them on the date we were originally given as we were going on holiday for a month the day after, they arrived 7:20am.
Never had a problem with the sofa's, still very comfy and all intact.

Forget the delivery - you can take it home like 'Ross' did!!!

We bought this exact same couch in white during the 2007 january sales for £299 + £59 for delivery and I must say, the couch isn't itchy as Gary has suggested but it is a little more narrow than our previous set, so it's not as comfortable for those nights when you want to cuddle up with your girl during a film.

One of the recliners are a little harder to retract than the other recliner but overall, I would say this couch represents good value and if you want to go to sleep, you can always pushout the recliner even further, making your body almost completely horizontal, offering maximum comfort.

Bare in mind that these couches always use softer wood when compared to standard couches, so make sure the little ones don't jump about, otherwise you'll need to wait ages for a replacement.

Hope that helps. :)

you can collect the sofa from one of thier warehouses to save the delivery cost ;-)
Obviously you need a big enough van or borrow one from work like i did:-D

I bought a 3 and 2 seater last Nov only for their del guys to wreck my front door trying to get the 3 seater in.
They then tryed getting the 2 seater through the garage door but wrecked the sofa also more damage to the door.
I did get a refund after a lot of pestering also got £800. to repair the damage that their agency drivers caused.
Just taken del from D.F.S
guess what there is a rip in the arm.

I got a sofa from Land of Leather last year and I was really unhappy with it.

It was £59 delivery and when they finally came to deliver it, they wouldn't bring it through the door saying that it wouldn't fit - which was a lie as we measured it.

They took it away and wanted another £59 for re-delivery. I tried to get them to arrange something for me and they were incredibly rude to me. Anything I said, they interrupted me with the words "terms and conditions" - I was really annoyed.

We got the sofa and within 1 year it broke. Some of the stitching came apart and the clips underneath broke (it's a corner group)

I was really annoyed and vowed I would never shop from them again.

Obviously it's up to you guys......

That's some helpful info but I didn't see any information stating it was referrancing the same recliner but it implies that it could be the same supplier due to the manufacturer having lucrative contracts with most furniture retailers.

I don't know if it's specific customers forming a rash due to sensitive skin reacting to the materials used (since the couch is sourced from China it could be down to the way the materials have been stored or something in the material, as Chinese laws are very lax) as I have heard cases of poisonous toxins inside plates and glasses or it could just be a batch problem.

Either way, I think it may be a small proportion of people that get effected and people with sensitive skin may want to stay clear, just incase. :)

I'm sorry to hear that mate, I have to admit, they were quite rude to us when we were considering purchasing the recliner and called us to ask some questions over the phone such as when they expect it to be instock etc but we went ahead with it anyway because we thought it was excellent value for a recliner.

The delivery guys they used were quite friendly to us but I guess this is dependant on the people you receive on the day but these huge corporations have to realise that agencies they employ also represents them, so it gives them a very negative public persona.

Good deal, but please be careful we have just got stung by land of leather, we ordered the same suite with the 2 seater recliner aswell they told us delivery would be 8weeks max, then we kept getting phone calls saying being delayed to high winds and lots of other excuses, in the end they managed to have a spare one which was going to be a in store display?? when they delivered it the guys were rough as ever scratching all the underneath of it, then about 2 days later the leather started to crack and it looked like a cat had scratched all of it. the repair bloke did come out and done a good job, but i wouldnt recommened anyone to buy from land of leather they are ****!

We bought a sofa from them last year & it's OK for the occasional use it gets. Has leather fronts but 'Leather Look' on the sides & rear - you would never tell the difference!

On the subject of Delivery Charge, we had ours delivered to the store Free Of Charge & collected from there after kicking up a stink about the cost!

We also bought from LOL (no pun intended). Delivery guys couldn't get it in the door, which was my fault cos when asked "will it fit through the door?" i replied yeah, yeah, yeah, with only my mental measurements to go by. Anyway the delivery guy took it to bits and got it in for an extra £80.
We've been pleased with the sofa, except the filling gone a bit soft on the bit i always sit on.
HOWEVER and this is the important bit, when the time comes for payment don't miss it, cos you'll be locked into a repayment plan with loads of interest.

Yeah that doesn't surprise me. I paid for the whole lot up front so didn't have to worry about that.

The thing that really got to us was that we gave the measurements for the door to the sales guy, who said that the settee would def fit, so we got it and then the delivery guys said it wouldn't fit through the front door! That stung us for another £59 and by then, we could have paid for a nicer sofa from someone else!

I have to say though, the guys who delivered it the second time were REALLY nice and apologied for all the trouble we had and put the sofa together for us.

Just a heads up
land of leather issued a profit warning at the start of the year and as sleep depot just went under owing more than £2 million in arrears to them i wouldnt expect to see them in business in 20 weeks let alone getting the sofa.
#25
Don't touch Land of Leather with a barge pole.

Whilst the deal itself seems like good value for money, the chances of seeing your sofa within a reasonable time are slim to none. They're a joke of a company and as the poster above says they are very unlikely to be in business for much longer.

Brilliant! Wish you'd posted this stuff earlier. I brought a Hilkon 3 seater recliner and 2 seater recliner on Sunday for £799 (plus delivery). I was told it would be a 12 weeks wait, thought ok, just pay the deposit. On Tuesday, they rang me and said it was in stock when did I want it delivered and could I pay the full amount now. I'm having it delivered on Monday.
#27
Had it delivered today! No problems, was all in separate parts and they fitted it together, in and out in 15 minutes. Checked it all over, no problems.

I think it might be wise to warn your guests and get them to sign a disclaimer before letting them sit down in case they get a rash and sue you

I am really, really pleased with my sofas. Bit heavy for moving when I vacuum, so only move once a month:oops: Had no problems at all. Love the recliners - only sitting with my legs up before I popped on here. I bought leather cleaner from CleanEasy and it brings it up a treat.
