I was listening to Talk Sport last night and heard an ad that lets buyers buy their car VAT free!

T+C's:
Prices shown include a discount on list price equivalent to a VAT saving of 17.5% VAT. Prices shown based on the manufacturers recommended retail price of £11,840 for Clio I-Music 1.2 16V 75 and £16,255 for Megané Hatch I-Music 1.6 100. VAT equivalent reduction is not available on vehicle options or accessories. Prices include delivery to dealer, number plates, 17.5% VAT, 12 months’ Government road fund licence and £55 first registration fee. This offer applies to vehicles ordered and registered by 30 December 2010 and is available to retail customers only. Offers not available in conjunction with any other offer. Figures correct at time of going to press and available at participating dealers only. Cars shown may have optional metallic paint available at an additional £405. Not VAT free, that would be illegal. Reduced by the equivalent of the VAT off the original price, but VAT will still be paid on the purchase.

No, not 17.5%... the actual discount is 14.89%!

Plenty of places offering 25% discount for many models of new Renaults so this can easily be beaten.

You can use the thousands you "save" buying the car on repairs instead. Get something with a good warranty instead:)
