Sorry but it's a Renault. Along with Peugeot and Citroen it's just the usual unreliable French garbage. Yes the cars look nice, have flair and the interiors look space age, but they are just so badly and cheaply made it's just not worth it. And before I get hammered for trolling let me say I am talking from experience. In my lifetime I owned 2 French cars, both looked nice and were fun to drive, but they were just built like cr*p! , fortunately I traded the last one in whilst the ' check engine' light was on and they didn't even notice!

Ive had a megane dci for 6 years, have a massive commute and it's still running, year after year. Great mpg too. Guess its just your luck.

mdkdue got to agree totally owned 1 French car and it was total crap!! Never again! can't beat German or jap cars
#9
Would never pay that much for a car, sorry!

I just need something that gets me from A to B and looks respectable
#10
Traditionally French cars were real crap (my old 306XR was my favourite ever car but had electrics by YTS), however in the last few years they really seem to have got their act together.

Never had a bad Japanese car but had a VW and it was rubbish

Renault are such safe cars to be in. I was in a bad accident & the car saved my life
#13
Such safe cars as they quite often break down and you have to stay at home instead of going on the roads lol

1/3 off RRP with this offer should take the sting out of the horrendous depreciation. GFV on a car like this is likely to be 35% of RRP, so it'll be worth around £6500-7000 after 3 years.

Would never own a Megane. My sister almost died in one 3 years ago (it was 4 years old at the time). There was an electrical fire behind the dash and the car locked itself, trapping her in. She had to smash a window to get out. Luckily she was the only one in the car, as she'd never have had time to get her 2 young twins out of their car seats in the back. Car burnt out. Renault took no responsibility at all for the fault that could have killed her because it was out of warranty and not serviced with them (although no-one had ever worked on the electrics beyond warranty).

Why do you think that French cars never reach anywhere near the top of the JD POWER survey?
#16
My now 9 year old Megane has been and is brilliant. Bought it new on an internet deal like this one and it has been a fab car for local and long distance, well designed and fairly economical for it's age, has now done 100,000 will be sorry when it gives up and I need to change. Good deal wish I was about to buy as would probably take this offer.

The 306 has to be the best car i have ever driven, to this day i haven't found a car that drives better and yes the electricals are a bit shoddy on french cars. French cars are not suitable for those drivers who sees a light turn on and poop themselves, it's just crossed wires, not lying when i say i have just turned the ignition off and then on again to get rid of a light, you just take it with a pinch of salt lol

Didn't realise this site turned into an episode of top gear.

Call me old fashioned but this site use to be about finding the best deal for the product posted.

Can you find this megane for cheaper?

No? OK so it's a hot vote.

You don't like the car? Only like Jap and German cars? Then continue scrolling past this post no voting either way, leaving no stupid comments.

I think there's little doubt that German cars are more 'solid'. But they have fair share of problems and can be expensive to maintain.

I'm not even sure about Japanese cars these days. 20 years ago Hondas were bullet proof. I had 3 brilliant ones, not so sure these days.

I have heated debates in our house as my other half loves Peugeot & Citroens. I just think of cars that are cheaply built and have weird problems.

Conclusion. Everyone is right and wrong in equal measure as we all have our own preferences.

Looks like a good deal to me and will make someone happy.

I never had any problems with my ancient 307 hdi, apparently the most unreliable car peugeot have ever made. Father in law's new octavia lived in the garage for the first 6 months of ownership.

I have to say, so much of it comes down to luck and I honestly don't believe german cars are as well built as people say these days. The TSI engines are known to catastrophically fail. Buy the car you like with a good warranty and live a little.

Yeah, because the BMW 3 series has a reputation for always breaking, and Toyota have recalled how many cars due to brake issues now? Lol.

Each to their own though, some will like it some not, they all have good points and bad points

I bought a British car once and it was crap. I've also owned German cars that were crap. I've also had wonderful British and German and even French cars

Why would anyone spend more than £50 on a Renault megan? That's the question!!
