The unique offer, posted on the GAME website and via social media, allows customers to buy a selected console or handheld and then sell it back to the retailer at the end of the summer for a set, predetermined sum.

Here’s how it works:

Buy a console (lets say a Wii U for example) for £179.99 at GAME.
Play the console throughout the summer, up until the cut off date of September 4th.
Return the console to receive a trade-in value of £160.
You’ve just had two months of Wii U gaming for just under £20.
So, although technically advertised as a trade-in deal, in effect GAME has introduced a novel way to rent/lease a console. Admittedly however, you do need the money for the console upfront.

The offer is valid on certain models of the Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U, and as ever terms and conditions apply. You can get a console or handheld as part of this promotion up until the end of July.

Terms and Conditions;

Buy any of the selected consoles and we’ll give you a guaranteed trade in price when you bring it back Terms and Conditions: Offer is valid from 26/06/14 until 31/07/14. In-store and online. Buy any of the selected consoles before 31/07/14 and we’ll give you a guaranteed trade in price when you bring it back before 04/09/14. Consoles included in this offer are Xbox 360 4GB £89.99 (£70), PS3 12GB £109.99 (£90), 3DS £99.99 (£80) and WiiU White £179.99 (£160). You must have original console and original proof of purchase. Online customers will receive £20 less than the online purchase price when trading in in store before 04/09/14. Colours may vary; ask staff for details of what’s available in this store. All Pre-Owned consoles are tested and guaranteed. Offer available for a limited period only and while stocks last. Online prices may vary. Some hardware units have the capacity to store data and images, while every effort has been made to remove these from the unit, this cannot be guaranteed in every instance. Game does not accept liability for any previous user content that may be retained on the hardware unit. To trade-in all consoles must be in good working order and of satisfactory quality. Imported consoles are excluded from trade-ins. Cash trade-in value may vary. Trade-in offers are open to members of the public only and GAME reserves the right to refuse any offer to anyone believed to be representing a trade buyer. The offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers. This does not affect your statutory rights. Store managers decision is final. Offer can be removed at any time without prior notice.

This poor offer to be honest
#4
It's trade credit you get back? Not a good deal in that case, unless of course you don't mind the credit.
#5
Plus they can then sell you the games too and give you sod all for them when you hand them back in.
#6
At least they are trying something pretty interesting :) not for me personally. But I respect the idea. I like to own and take care of my consoles.

Wonder if they will do a next gen offer...?

Can't see it this is basically to get rid of old stock as how many people will take them back or forget about it or miss the date etc etc

Crafty *%!**!%

There's a chance that in 2 months time the prices will have dropped meaning they pay you to have it....... At Game, maybe not
#10
So, you're paying around £20 to rent the console... Weird! Unusual as an incentive, too, with renting a console in idea...

So in layman's terms....

Pay £180 now
Play Wii U for around 5-6 weeks
Get £160 store credit

Basically, pay £180 for £160 store credit!! Hahaha

Not forgetting of course that you actually have to pay more than that as you'll have to buy some games.

Great deal /sarcasm
#12
This isn't that bad if you have got the credit to begin with.
#13
If it was 160 cash back would jump on this, but would have no use for store credit at game
#14
Awful scheme. Cold.
#15
Seemed great until I seen it was store credit. Good idea though if you know you're going to buy something else later
#16
If u 'buy one' doesn't that make u ponce of the summer begging all your mates for games as presumably you wouldn't already own any?
#17
I think its a good idea no one is forcing anyone to buy and for people like me who have store credit n dint know what to do with it at the minute renting a wii u for £20 seems good to me. Will check instore tomoz
#18
Is it definitely Store Credit only? I'd be all over it if it was Cash...
#19
Definitely store credit only, it says so in the T+Cs on their website. Current cash trade in value for a premium Wii U is a derisory £85.50, and will only be lower by September
banned#20
good geal as you can buy games credit for 75%.

poor as i wish they had xbox one and ps4.

not voting

Nothing stopping people buying it with store credit too.
#22
The offer only applies to the Wii U Basic Model..... which Game do not have in stock anymore.

Great deal for something which isnt in stock!!! ..... :/

Worth a repost because this got cold as people didn't realise that it is cash or credit?
