The critically-acclaimed chapter of the Resident Evil franchise returns with more content than ever before in Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. Included is the original best-selling game and all downloadable content, including new playable episodes that take you even deeper into Resident Evil lore.

The biohazard threat has not ended! Just when it seemed that the menace of Resident Evil had been destroyed, along comes a new terror to send shivers down player's spines.

Chris Redfield, returning Resident Evil hero, has followed the path of the evil literally around the globe. After joining a new organisation, Chris heads to Africa where the latest bioterrorism threat is literally transforming the people and animals of the city into mindless, maddened creatures.

Chris must take on the challenge of discovering the truth behind this evil plot. Promising to revolutionise the series by delivering an unbelievable level of detail, realism and control, Resident Evil 5 is certain to bring new fans to the series. New technology developed specifically for the game, as well as incredible changes to both the gameplay and world of Resident Evil will make this a must-have game for gamers across the globe.

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition Includes:

Lost In Nightmares
# This is the first installment of new content for Resident Evil 5. During the main story of Resident Evil 5, Chris Redfield alludes to a mission where he lost his partner Jill during a conversation with Sheva. Now you can find out what happened during that mission at Spencer's estate. This package also allows you to unlock two new characters in the all-new The Mercenaries Reunion. Play as one of the unsung heroes of the original Resident Evil, Barry Burton, or step into the designer-made high heels of one of Resident Evil's newest villains, Excella Gionne

Desperate Escape
# This is the second installment of new content for Resident Evil 5. After Jill Valentine is rescued by Chris Redfield, he leaves her to finish his mission. Find out how she made it out on her own, and what role Josh Stone played in her escape. This package also allows you to unlock two new characters in the all-new The Mercenaries Reunion. Play as one of the stars of Resident Evil 0, Rebecca Chambers, or take on the role of Delta Team's commander, Josh Stone

Resident Evil 5 Versus Mode
# Versus is a new mode available for Resident Evil 5. Take control of Chris, Sheva and other RE5 favorites in online battles of up to 4 players! Compete for points by defeating Majini in Slayers or take down other players in Survivors. Fight alone or in a team for a total of 4 exciting variations!

Costume Pack 1
# Show off Chris' muscled physique with his Warrior outfit, and add a bit of elfin fantasy to Sheva with Fairy Tale. These costumes can also be used in The Mercenaries Reunion in addition to the main story. There are also additional figures available in Extra Figures to round out this sartorial package

Costume Pack 2
# Play with Chris' completely new take on tactical field armor with Heavy Metal, and give Sheva the sleek elegance of a power suit with Business. These costumes can also be used in The Mercenaries Reunion in addition to the main story

Product Features:
# New environments and a diverse assortment of locations
# New enemies bring new challenges - speed and intelligence make adversaries as dangerous singly as they are in groups
# An arsenal of weapons at the players command to keep the evil at bay, including knives, pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles and more
# Lighting effects provide a new level of suspense in both harsh light and deepest shadow
# Mercenaries Mode - The return of this bonus mode sees players compete against the clock as they try to defeat as many enemies as possible in a given time limit

Another hand (paw) raised here.

Have you used MyMemory for the 3D Blu-ray Disc edition of "...Afterlife"?

I played this game through in co-op and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The amount of extra content on here is fantastic as well. Loved the Lost in Nightmares episode, and the Desperate Escape. The Mercenaries modes are also great fun.

For £11, you really can't go wrong.

Did you & your co-op partner play using the PlayStation Move Motion/Sub controller(s), 'f'c', or with a SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 controller?

A great price. Sure this is nowhere as spooky as earlier entries in the franchise and the story is nonsensical gibberish as always, but it is a great co-op game if you can find a human companion instead of the AI. The PS3 version of Gold Edition has the extra content on disc, meaning that you can bring it wherever you go contrary to the 360 version where it is on lousy vouchers - not that it matters much as the extra material adds almost nothing to the experience - but still you'd rather have it than not have it and just be thankfull that you did not pay premium price for it at release.

Hot!

Is this another action game like the others in the series in the recent years? Resident evil 2 still can't be beaten, I wish they would return to a suspense filled zombie theme rather than all that quick time mash buttons action stuff.

Hey fp - neither of us used a Move controller to play, so I can't comment on how well the new control system works. Playing with a Dualshock controller was fine though. Typically quirky RE controls, but that is to be expected really.

I played this on Xbox. Wasn't that enthralled by it but I loved RE4 using the Wii-mote.

Has anyone played it with the move controller? Does it improve things?

i guess the only way to play resi evil 1, 2 and 3 on ps3 at the moment is to download them from the US store........all you need is random US address and payment points which can be purchased online.....

only standard ps1 versions, but this is what horror games should be like - not like re5 - no atmosphere and NOT scary (still a hot deal though)

Thanks 'fc'.

I've just bought a PlayStation Move Motion Controller so I can finally open the cellophane on my "Gold Edition" of the game (although I have played most of the co-op story mode locally with my SIXAXIS & one of my kids using a DUALSHOCK 3, as I pre-ordered the Steelbook edition many months before the title was released).

However, I'll have to wait until my new PS3 console is delivered before I have enough space to contemplate re-installing the game data.

I'll let you know how I get on with the Motion control input.

You could also use the original PlayStation CD-ROM discs in your PS3 Blu-ray Disc drive in order to play on your current console.

Can anyone comment on what the move controls are like? I played the 360 version to death, and in the end got a bit tired of it, but with the new controls it could be worth another playthrough.

resi 4 was a classic. I have only played the resi 5 demo and it didnt seem to have the same magic, but im sure its pretty good. I like many people didnt care for the old style survival horror gameplay of the old resi's.

I think Wii is your best bet if you want that sort of thing though, cos there were several top notch Resi remakes for the gamecube Resi 1, Resi Zero with excellent visuals that hold up today. Lugis mansion is also surprisingly creepy, and Metroid Primes sense of being alone is pretty spooky. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is a game that is constantly remembered as one of the best GC games, its a survial horror of sorts.

There are plenty of other survival horror games out there such as rule of rose, and there is one on a ship but I cant remember what its called. FEAR is also an excellent horror FPS and HL2 has some scary moments. Google is your friend, there are so many horror games that most people know nothing about.
