The critically-acclaimed chapter of the Resident Evil franchise returns with more content than ever before in Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. Included is the original best-selling game and all downloadable content, including new playable episodes that take you even deeper into Resident Evil lore.

EDIT:

I got this information from Wikipedia:

Another edition outside of Japan, entitled Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will be released as a full retail disc, comprising the "Lost in Nightmares" episode as well as the newly announced "Desperate Escape" episode included. In this episode, players will control Josh Stone and Jill Valentine as they journey to assist Chris and Sheva.[44] There will also be two costume packs that will be included on the disc and 8 new playable characters confirmed for Mercenaries mode (thus retitling the mode "Mercenaries Reunion"). Alternatively, for those who do not purchase the Gold Edition, both episodes as well as both costume packs will be available as DLC, with 2 of the 8 new characters bundled with each downloadable item. This means that by buying all four DLC, players will then already own all of the content on the disc. However, this only directly applies to the PS3 version, due to the fact that the Xbox 360 version will not contain all DLC content from the start. The Xbox 360's disc will instead come with a download token, allowing for a free download of all of the DLC while the PS3 version already has all new content from purchase.

Is the DLC any good? And how cheap is the original 2nd hand? TBH I only played about 5 minutes of the demo, but I might go back to it...

Seems like a decent price though, so heat added
#2
apparently the 2nd dlc is meant 2 b better than the 1st, the 1st dlc 'Lost in Nightmares' is set in a mansion like the 1 u see in Resi 1 and the 2nd dlc 'Desperate Escape' is the events that lead up 2 where josh meets chris and sheva, resi 5 preowned in game/gamestation ranges between £12- £15.

hope this helps

A previous thread listing this for £24.99 at Game (not including reward points and Quidco) got mad hot so I'd imagine this to follow the same way (seeing as it's cheaper).

Has anyone used The Game Collection before?
Can anyone comment on for example how are they in regards to delivery (be it pre-order or not)?

I've used The Game Collection a few times.

On the last occasion (22 February 2010), I bought a PS3 title at 9:30am & it was despatched three hours later. It was delivered the following day.

Have used this company about 5 times and they have been sound with no issues and very quick delivery

shame I already have resi 5 otherwise would have snapped this up with havintnthe extra content included
#6
Game Collection are very good, Eurogamer.net rate the DLC better than the original game, so seem like a great deal.
#7
For clarifications sake - Is it PS3 version has all on disk and 360 has to use included DLC code ?. Only reason I ask as for resale the 360 will no longer be "complete".
#8
This is utter BS. I already bought Resident Evil 5 for xbox when it came out. Now they expect me to buy the Gold Edition just to get a crappy code to download the extra content. I want it all on the bloody disc already. And noooooo I can't just rent the gold edition because the code only has one use. Also its 4 DLC packs. Thats right they want to charge you 4 times for the extra content. Never mind the fact you already payed for your standard copy. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

Excellent game, first Resident Evil I've finished and I loved every second of it. I was contemplating getting the DLC but I may just sell my copy of the game and buy this, much easier having it all on disk rather than downloading it and not being able to use the DLC if i get a slim PS3 in the future

This edition will be one of the few games compatible with sony's mtion controller

You can get Resident Evil 5 without the DLC for £15 brand new over at Amazon.

You do get the actual game as well. Are you aware of that and just being very ignorant? Or did you not realise that this game is purely aimed at those who HAVEN'T bought Resident Evil 5 yet?

It's no different than the Fallout GOTY Edition, the Fable GOTY Edition, the Oblivion GOTY Edition. Re-releases with the DLC included, primarily aimed at those who never played the game in the first place, so that they can get the full experience. Those who do own the original game, myself included, can buy the DLC on its own as normal, or if you really want the new box and things, by all means get this. No-one is forcing you to, though.

It really is a good package if you haven't bought the game previously, but for those looking to upgrade, be warned - the Lost Nightmares and Desperate Escape scenarios have 90 minutes of gameplay between them if you're even remotely good at shooters.

i wish capcom would bring the old resi's to the psn and xbox live!!!

You could always just buy the original PlayStation (CD-ROM) titles & play them in your PS3, of course.

BFN,

fp.

PS. "Resident Evil: Director's Cut" has been on the US PlayStation Store since 28 May 2009!

I'm pretty sure only 60gb models do that.

Nope... European 60Gb models play PS2 titles from the same territory.

All PS3 models play PS1 titles for the same region.

Have you heard of PlayStation Network Cards? They were available in the US before they were available in the UK. You can buy them from various places & import them into the UK.

You can set-up a US PlayStation Network account on a European (UK) console & buy items from the US Store.

(You used to be able to use Entropay cards too).

man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eh :?

If you already own the game, they most certainly do not expect you to buy the Gold Edition - just buy the DLC from http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802434307d4/?p=1&of=3&bt=0&sb=1#offers !

You're complaining that they're charging you four times for, um, four packs ?

Never mind the fact you already payed for your standard copy. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

Eh :?

All you've paid for, is Resident Evil 5. If you want the chargeable addons, then you're going to be, um, charged.

I think I must be missing something fundamental to your post

Received a dispatch e-mail yesterday @ 12:06 but have yet to reach me in today's post - on reflection of other members who have managed to get their pre-order on release date and in some cases a day before the release date I hope it comes soon! :p

Don't feel too bad mate - I went into Gamestation today intending to buy a copy and they wanted £29.99!

I mentioned it was £24.99 on their website and they said games are always more expensive in-store, which both puzzled and annoyed me, so I left empty handed. Will order it online now and just wait a couple of extra days.

Damn, wish more stores matched their prices on their own sites or at the very least (particularly to Gamestation) have the ability to use one's trade-in card online as well as in store!

Back in regards to RE: Gold it has yet to arrive regardless on the site stating that they always send their items 1st class so by all means an item sent on the 11th should arrive by now.

It's not that I'm impatient for this game (tbh I won't even be playing it soon as I have a bad backlog of games as it is) but the concern as to where it actually is.

Hoping for the best on Monday and unfortunately The Game Collection won't be getting any additional business from me any time soon - perhaps my first and last purchase from them...

I'm sure you know that The Royal Mail is the organisation delivering your item not The Game Collection.

It may have been sent as promised.

Yeah in hindsight I was just frustrated about it all and it was irrational to cut future customs with The Game Collection.

As it stands so far my PS3 copy has yet to arrive, based on the help section with their deliveries it should take 2-3 working days.

With my order despatched on the 11th I have contacted them in a bid to find out the whereabouts of my order and if there is anything I can do.

Any advice? Haven't experience a situation like this before.

I'd be well annoyed if I was you mate - I would ask for a refund if you don't receive it sometime this week.

I ordered it online from Gamestation on Sunday afternoon (works out at £23.50 after Quidco) - it was delivered yesterday morning which I thought was pretty impressive.

That is pretty impressive delivery time for Gamestation, I have ordered from them only once but recall an efficient delivery.

One area to which The Game Collection gets my thumbs up (based on my single experience alone) is how prompt they are when responding to enquiries:

TheGameCollection
Hi

I do not know why you haven't received the dispatcehd item as of yet. We can send a replacement or issue a full refund depending on what you would rather? Let us know how to proceed.
Many Apologies

Thumbs down for the lack of a spell check though. :p
Have decided to ask for a replacement rather than go through any possible hassle for getting a refund and buying it some where else.

PS1 games look terrible on the PS3. The pixelation is unbearable. They look much better on the original PS1 or PS2.

Replacement copy finally arrived through my door recorded delivery (don't know if that is the norm or not).
No cause for concern any longer :p
