So, you lucky XBox360/PS3 oweners get to play this today. But alas, we poor folk who still use our PC for gaming have a few more weeks to wait. However, I have found easily the cheapest preorder for PC users. Also, a link to the cheapest available XBox360/PS3 below.

The biohazard threat has not ended! Just when it seemed that the menace of Resident Evil had been destroyed, along comes a new terror to send shivers down player's spines.
Chris Redfield, returning Resident Evil hero, has followed the path of the evil literally around the globe. After joining a new organisation, Chris heads to Africa where the latest bioterrorism threat is literally transforming the people and animals of the city into mindless, maddened creatures. Chris must take on the challenge of discovering the truth behind this evil plot.

Promising to revolutionise the series by delivering an unbelievable level of detail, realism and control, Resident Evil 5 is certain to bring new fans to the series. New technology developed specifically for the game, as well as incredible changes to both the gameplay and world of Resident Evil will make this a must-have game for gamers across the globe.

Chris Redfield, protagonist of the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, returns
New environments and a diverse assortment of locations
New enemies bring new challenges - speed and intelligence make adversaries as dangerous singly as they are in groups
An arsenal of weapons at the players command to keep the evil at bay, including knives, pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles and more
Lighting effects provide a new level of suspense in both harsh light and deepest shadow
True high-definition gaming on multiple game platforms, using an advanced version of Capcom's proprietary game engine, MT Framework, which powered the next-gen, million-plus hit titles Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet and Dead Rising

PC games have better controls for 1st & 3rd person shooters IMO
(a few exeeptions, ie.Gears 1)

gonna be great on PC with everything maxed out :D

can someone tell me why the PC version comes out 1month after the X360 & PS3 versions?
is the game not created on the PC :?
same situation with Hawx - its not out on PC yet...

You obviously haven't played Resident Evil 4, Dead Space or Devil May Cry 4 on PC without a 360 pad then...you'd change your mind pretty fast :P

By the way, I wouldn't hold my breath on this being released in April, AFAIK no release date has been confirmed yet. Play have no date, Amazon has June, Gameplay has April, Shopto has September, and thehut, SoftUK and Gamestation do not even have it listed. If its anything like the PC version of RE4 then it could be delayed by years...

Also, the cover art seems to be a reversed image of the RE: Outbreak cover?? Seems dodgy to me.

i heard somewhere that its because it uses Capcom's new engine which only works on PC, PS3 & X360...
the Wii version would have to be heavily dumbed down anyway.

I meant for console ported games like RE when using a mouse and keyboard. The games I mentioned are horribly optimised...I just wouldnt put money on the PC version of RE5 being better.

EDIT - gah, too late, typos galore! :p

Pre-ordered. Let hope it's not a mis-pricing!

because the wii has no where near the processing power to run this game, the wii is essentially a gamecube.

Does this one have achievements?

They always seem to make us wait for pc versions, perhaps they hope we will fork out for a console. Been playing resident evil 4 on the pc, the cut scenes arnt up to much, looked better on consoles.

I've lost some enthusiasm for RE4 now, needs some zombies not chain saw wielding mad farmers. Broke out my Play station and replaying RE2, still my fav resident evil game.

Anyway great price, cheers for spotting it.

Res evil has lost its way.. Bring back the zombies. got it for my ps3 and its just like res4. not a bad game but its not res evil.. good price but if the pc version of res 4 is to go by, (which came out at £14) it will b a bad port over

ye
completed it last night in 9hrs. Good Game but i didnt find myself cringing in fear of whats round the next corner like in the old playstation 1 versions. They were the best imo.

ive been playing this on xbox for a week, not a great game by any means.

Movement isnt easy and the female character gets in the way all the time.

Hire it for a few days rather than buying it, you'll finish it no problem.

Even if this is a mis-price you'll still get it, don't worry peeps.

I believe they might delay the PC release to cushion the impact of piracy. If you've got a PS3 (pretty much impossible to run backups) and a PC (pirates will create a working copy before retail release, usually), you might be inclined to DL it. The same goes for the 360, except that if you put in some effort you can obviously flash it.

That's my two pence, anyway.

I never played any res game apart from 4, what are the early ones like?

Resident Evil 4 on PC was a complete mess. Though people have modded it to improve the controls and textures.
I think the cutscenes used the same videos as the PS2 version so they're pretty low-res. The Gamecube and Wii ones are done in realtime.

They should just release a scaled back version of Resi 5 for the Wii using the engine from 4.

PPD are pretty good.

I'd be shocked if this really did get released for the PC on time, but it's doubtful.

As for the controls on the PC, out of the box they may be a bit iffy, but you can customise your control scheme and tweak the settings to your hearts content thanks some great little app's out there. Pinnacle Game Profiler/ for example.

Hope they don't slap some ridiculous and crippling DRM in there, a la Bioshock, which I had to wait a full YEAR to purchase, when they finally released a version with the DRM and it's restrictions removed.

^ trust me, DRM is not a problem - it gets hacked before the game gets released XD
best thing to do even if you own the game, is to disable the DRM.

I might be wrong but normally the pc version is released after a console because they dont want to do it as a normal straight port from console to pc. they want to port it and then make sure everything is working how it should and maybe even add to the graphics and or gameplay since a pc can be substantially more powerful.

From experience (I used to be a computer games tester/reviewer in a past life) there's some truth in that. Sometimes, there's extra "levels" etc on the PC issue.

I doubt very much (in most cases) that is the main reason. I think they will release the console versions first, then the PC version when sales drop off so they aren't hit as hard by the software pirates. The extra gubbins are a sweetener for people who have waited for the PC version, so they don't give up on it. Call me cynical, but I think there's very little altruism in games publishers these days, it's all about the dineros...
