As I mentioned just above your comment... it'll be on the Japanese 'Store first, then US & Europe, as you said, the following Thursday (hence why you see differing release dates quoted).

oh and to the OP, you might want to put the price in the title.

the demo is just awful

you have to stop and stand still to reload or shoot. How stupid is that!

Is that with a shotgun (that is difficult to reload whilst moving [cough... so I would imagine]), or with a handgun?

If with the handgun then yes, that sounds broken.

Damn :(

I'll stick with KILLZONE 2 for now (98/100 on metacritic)

I think this game is fantastic!!!
Maintains alot of the amazing gameplay from 4 with added bonuses e.g. online co-op!!

This game is quite simply brilliant especially in co-op its shaping up to be one of best co-op games ever, graphics are quite amazing too. Once again more comments from bitter PS3 owners because 360 got the demo first.

Indeed. If having a Microsoft console means you get a broken product first, then that's fine with me.

Either way, the price for the product on this deal is currently the cheapest around.

GAME have the UK Limited Edition for £49.99. HMV have it for £44.99.

Neither come anywhere near the extra stuff you see in the US & Japanese Collector's Editions :(

But that's me just being a bitter UK customer.

What like the PS3 version of the Orange box you mean?.

Acutully it's just a demo and it states at the start of it something like "This is a demo and may contain bugs and does not represent full game". (they will probably not even be removed from the PS3 version yet either when it evntually gets here)

No, I believe the comparison to be nothing at all like "The Orange Box". A demo of that was not available on the PS3 platform. The full retail product was also released simultaneously on both the Sony & Microsoft consoles across all territories.

The money Microsoft paid to Capcom to secure the early availability of the demo of “Resident Evil 5” (“Biohazard 5”) will hopefully be fed back into the development, & possibly the quality assurance, processes so that a degree of "jazz hands" & "polish" can be applied before the full commercial release (on 5 March 2009 in Japan, and 13 March 2009 in US/North American & PAL regions).

Unfortunately, on this occasion, Sony did not invite me to beta test “Resident Evil 5”. Until I have the opportunity to try a PS3 variant I cannot comment further on the gameplay; I can only quote comments from others who have had first-hand experience.

oh the fun of internet forums:roll: everyone becomes an expert or thinks they are about a game which officially hasnt been released yet, The thread as stated before is for the price not the game (which none of us have played in finished form(or have we??)), So how about we reserve judgement on the game until launch date and rate the offer! resi 4 was the nuts so how can u get any worse than that?

Many game sequels do not surpass, or even match, the previous instalments in the series or indeed live up to expectations at all.

You only have to look at "Call of Duty: World at War" compared to "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" for an example of this (albeit that the two projects were developed by different organisations).

The "Resident Evil" series of course, is developed & published by Capcom, and with their history in the industry I expect that they will be keen to retain the already established fanbase whilst introducing new features (such as the offline 'co-op' mode, and the online multiplayer mode) to move the franchise forward to compete with other game titles on the market (and in order to attract new players as a result).

However, not everybody will think that "change is for the better", and hence not everybody will be pleased with the progression of the gameplay. As you rightly said, this all adds to fun of a discussion as long as all points of view are valid observations & each contributor to the discussion is given equal rights to a view.

But yes, as I have said, until I experience the new game myself I can only offer an opinion on, & discuss the comments made by, what others have said. I would never consider myself an expert in any subject matter, as there is always something to learn.

I added "heat" to this deal as soon as I had seen your listing, btw.

As each member comments on a thread it raises the profile of that deal back up the list to the top of the first page & more people get to see what is on offer.

As soon as a deal drops off the first or first few pages it rarely gets noticed again (unless somebody specficially searches for the particular product or service mentioned), so a flow of dialogue about the product, or the supplier, is a worthwhile pursuit for the benefit of all members who may wish to make use of the listed deal.

Unfortunately, more often than not, whenever a deal for a video game or video games console is submitted, the thread comments eventually turn sour with negative comments from parties who simply comment on a particular product just because they made a differing personal choice themselves.

As you do when such comments are made away from the Internet forums, you can choose to either choose ignore them, or get involved as you wish.

Personally I think that competition in the video games industry should be welcomed, but with more tolerance for the choices that individuals themselves make.

Anyway, enough already... I've said similar things many times before.

I just tried the demo and ran out of ammo after killing about 10 zombies, and that's across both the pistol and the shotgun. Is there a melee option somewhere? :)

The use of a Melee (mêlée) attack will almost certainly be there (in the full version of the game).
Unless you have done so already, just hit/shake every button/controller combination you can find.

(I hope the PS3 variant uses the SIXAXIS motion sensors for this. One of the aspects of the "Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition" I will miss, if this is not implemented, I think).

You can also share ammunition with Sheva (Alomar), so I have read.

in that case, this deal should be at zero degrees as people shouldn't vote on something until they know whether it is worth any money at all :whistling:

Yup, I also downloaded the PS3 Playable Demo (from the European/UK 'Store) late last night.

“Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition” I would put on my Top 10 favourite games list, but I was very late to the party on playing it. I have the previous PS2 release (including the Chainsaw Controller) still unplayed. I never found the time to do so as it never seemed to make it to the top of the pile on any given day.

"Resident Evil 5" (either based on the Playable Demo available from yesterday, or from advance/press releases) has had very mixed previews/reviews, and I'm still undecided on it after the hour I spent early this morning. If I had not read the comments of others before playing myself, I may not have picked as many faults with it. However, I seemed to have a check-list of faults in my head & it spoiled what should have been a very personal experience on my first run-through. I found I was not comparing the environment, controls, and character interaction with the previous title in the franchise, but I was trying to justify what others had, or had not said. I wish I had not read anything about it in advance as I’m sure it would have “scored” higher on my first run-through. I’ll need to go back to it later today & look at it more subjectively.

I do agree that not being able to reload whilst moving is an issue.

Not wishing to spoil the Demo for anybody, I'll keep the details brief, but there is one (recurring) character that comes at you late into the Demo & once your handgun needs reloading you are a sitting target as you cannot move to avoid the oncoming enemy,

I certainly wouldn't want to pay £49.99 for the (UK) Steelbook Edition now.

The US & Japan get more desirable Collector's Editions.

I personally like tht aspect, it makes the game harder, but that makes it more of a challenge and acheivement when you succeed. Also, it builds te tension up like crazy, but if you don't like it I've read somewhere that you're supposed to be able to switch this on or off. I'm voting hot because I was pleasantly suprised by the demo as, not being a player of resident evil games, I liked the unexpected action/adventure-aspect as I'm a huge fan of Tomb Raider games and Uncharted. But most of all I'm voting this hot because it's a fantastic deal and I think that people need to bear in mind that you're voting on this based on how good the deal is, not what you thought of a short demo.

i agree with you. alot of the people are casual gamers, fairly new to the market. no harm there, but most havnt played resident evil 4 to appreciate the gameplay aspect of five. alot are shying away from the challenge to be honest. too hard for you without running and gunning? stick with pokemon. id love to gon on and explain why they stuck to some of the same gameplay and why this is like this and that is like that, but it'll just be a waste of time. the review for this game is out on some american sites, from one magazine, the OPM official playstation magazine, who gave it a 5 out of 5. the review is a massive 5 pages long.

oh, dont think you can switch it on or off. personally i dont know how the CPU co-op is going to work out. should be interesting. i hated having to baby sit ashley in he last one!

I've warmed to it since I commented above as I've played it a few times more now.

My opinion changed when I played online with somebody else (who eventually gave up & logged-out as I was shockingly bad at it!) as the mechanic of the multiplayer co-op seemed to improve the single player experience; and also because I got to play as Sheva that means your playing tactics have to change as she has different strengths & weaknesses.

The other party also showed me how to interact with the environment more that I had just missed on my initial outing. Chris' ability to pull & push furniture around helped me finish the first stage.

I'm still struggling to get past the new "Dr Salvador" character (the sack-headed chainsaw maniac).

Later stages have a boat trip & fighting a crocodile.

I'm looking forward to this now.
