Use code HAPPYN-EWYEAR-22OFFG

For those interested the US site also has this for £10.33.

The game that defined the survival-horror genre is back! Check out the remastered HD version of Resident Evil.

In 1998 a special forces team is sent to investigate some bizarre murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. Upon arriving they are attacked by a pack of blood-thirsty dogs and are forced to take cover in a nearby mansion. But the scent of death hangs heavy in the air. Supplies are scarce as they struggle to stay alive.

Key features:

Graphics

More detailed graphics that retain the horror.

The environments come alive with detail thanks to resolution upgrades and non-static 3D models.

Post-processing effects like Bloom filters, which were not easy to do at the time of the original release, have been added to make the HD graphics even more realistic.

High-Resolution Environments - We've increased the resolution of the background environments by recreating them with a mix of high-res static images, plus animated 3D models.

Widescreen Support

Widescreen (16:9) is supported, so players can experience a greater sense of immersion.

In widescreen mode, the screen will scroll. The parts of the screen that get cut off on the top and bottom will scroll into view automatically depending on the character's position.

You can switch the display mode during gameplay in real time.

Sound & New Controls

High-Quality Sound - The audio has been remastered to increase the sampling rate, and of course 5.1ch output is also now supported.

New Controls

You can play using the original control scheme or an alternate control scheme that lets you just push the analog stick to move in the direction you want to go.

You can switch the control scheme during gameplay in real time.

Heat added! PC is the only platform for this game to have 60fps too.http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-vs-resident-evil-on-ps4:)

60fps is terrible on a pc...

60fps is actually great for this resident evil with the limited camera angles and It's also quite a slow paced game.

Maybe you should understand how fps actually works before making statements like that.

Great find again Jay!

I'm hoping this sells so well that they decide to do a full remake of RE2

Unfortunately there's a big different between a remaster and a remake.
With the GC REmake being so good, this remaster is simply the same game with better textures, resolution, animation, lighting, etc.

To remake RE2 they'd need to they would need to complete redo the game in a new engine, rather than improve the existing one.

I hope they do RE: Zero next since it'd be simple for Capcom to remaster.

id imagine its a guaranteed minimum framerate which would enable you to enjoy the game without feeling it was getting laggy. They might limit the max rate too, but either way it should look nice.

Unfortunately this is very true although the Dreamcast also got a port of RE2 so there isn't just the PS1 version to go from. Obviously that was nothing like REmake though and the best port you would be able to hope for there is something like the PS3/360 version of Code Veronica.

It's a crimson head, AKA most evil thing ever. If you don't burn / behead / kneecap a regular zombie, it will return as one of those within an hour. They follow you through doors and take a beating before going down, and they are fast aswell.

The recommended card is a higher spec than yours. You may be able to get away with it on low settings but don't expect anything fancy.

Requirements are very low so you may be able to:

OS: Windows® 7 SP1 / Windows® 8.1
Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, AMD Athlon™ X2 2.8 GHz, or better
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX260, ATI Radeon HD 6790, or better

Your card is definitely borderline though, it would be outperformed by a GTX 260 so it would be a gamble tbh.

As someone who returned a G-Sync 4k monitor because of its 60fps limit, in favour of the Rog Swift with 144Hz capability, I think I know what I'm talking about.

I don't see how the hardware you own makes you any more knowledgable. I could buy an electron microscope, I wouldn't mean I knew what I was talking about.

The REmaster looks excellent in 60fps and that's the reason I got for my PC instead of PS4. Don't take my word for it, run a 1080p60fps youtube video of the Remaster HD gameplay.

See this today and still going to hold out for a better deal. I think it was sept/oct time when you could get all the previous RE on steam for £15? memory is a bit hazy but was a cracking deal.

I think the point speaks for itself. I had both monitors side by side, the rog swift is lower resolution than the 4k acer. I had a tough choice to make - beautiful resolution limited to 60fps, or lower res (2560x1440) with insane framerate. In the end I chose the lower res monitor because 60fps is not smooth enough.

You would see a distinct difference between 60fps and 144fps with this even if the environment is fixed. The character animations would be much better.

No they wouldn't. They've already produced a GC version of RE2.

It wasn't like REmake though, it was effectively just a port of the Dreamcast/PC version. Even if you upscaled it to modern resolutions it would still wind up looking like this:

Where as the Gamecube REmake looked like this:

Why not just play it on a GC emulator? Configured properly, would look more or less the same.

As someone who returned a G-Sync 4k monitor because of its 60fps limit, in favour of the Rog Swift with 144Hz capability, I think I know what I'm talking about.

You would need a beast of a computer to play games at 60fps on a 4k monitor ... especially the likes of Battlefield 4, etc. I've seen a couple of people who have bought a 4k monitor then go on to moan about so called 'lag' ... it's not lag, it's just that their hardware isn't up to the job! To be fair, ramping games up to run at 144Hz on a 1080p display takes some doing in the likes of Titanfall and Battlefield ... hope you enjoy it ...

I play most games on my 60Hz Dell IPS, and I notice no smearing or noticable delay in most games, although CS:Go plays a lot smoother at 144Hz on my other monitor. I just prefer the IPS and ramping up the graphics to the slightly washed out look on my 144Hz model.

144Hz is great for FPS twitch gaming, but anyone who tells me they can tell the difference between 144Hz and 60Hz on a slow paced Third Person Game is talking out of their ( o )

Moral of the story - each to their own, but coming out saying that something is terrible when it clearly isn't is just troll bait!

Well there are a couple of things we need to sort out here. When you talk about the monitor, you mean hz. You didn't want the 60hz monitor at 4k res, fair enough. A monitor with a high refresh rate like 144hz (again) would make games look really smooth if they had sufficient frames per second.

However Resident Evil Remaster HD runs at 1080p (no need for a 4K monitor) at 60fps. Having a higher refresh rate than the 60fps the game will be running at is not a problem, it'll still look really good.

To conclude, the game looks great. Go ahead and compare it running at 30fps to 60fps to see the difference.

http://www.gamingreviewz.net/2015/01/08/resident-evil-gorgeous-60fps-pc-footage-revealed/

I play a lot of RE4 Ultimate HD at 60fps and it plays beautifully.
