I disagree. I think "Resistance 2" is different, but not better, than the online experience of "Killzone 2". I still prefer "Resistance: Fall of Man" to the sequel.

PS. Good price for the original release (not the Platinum Edition). "Head" added.

Killzone 2 is miles better IMO. Derivative and very linear, its been as low as £7.99 on here before (Argos) still not a bad price for an average budget title.

I was playing R:FoM the other day, it is a xmas ritual for me...finally finished it on Hard so superhuman is next year.
I do prefer it to R2, the bleak world is very atmospheric especially with the sound cranked up; plus I like the way I can carry oodles of guns, yes I know it is unrealistic but still cool.

I've mentioned it before (a few times, actually) in other threads, so excuse me if you have read this previously, but I think limiting the story/campaign mode to a single player was a step backwards in "Resistance 2". I was very disappointed with the finished product when I bought the full version after being part of the Beta Test programme for the online multiplayer aspects of the game. "Resistance: Fall of Man" was my first 'must have' title for the PS3; so much so that I had to buy the console on the first day of release in Europe so I could play the game as soon as possible. It is also one of the few games I have played all the way through not once, but twice! I usually get bored before I finish a title on the first attempt... I have so many games that I have started & never get the motivation (or opportunity) to return to when something new is available.

The online multiplayer in "Resistance: Fall of Man" took a long number of months of my gaming life during 2007 & early 2008. Not anywhere near the time I have spent online with "Killzone 2", but still enough to warrant a mention. My kids & I also used to regularly play four-player split-screen deathmatch games for a few hours every Saturday night. The "Bus Yard" was our map of choice due to the ability to snipe, hurl grenades at targets hiding under cover, and run & gun all in the same location. Happy times! :)

"Resistance 2" has never had the appeal of either game. As mentioned, the whole gloomy environment & story carrying you through "...Fall of Man" offers you something special that was somehow lost when the game when more colo[u]rful in the San Francisco, California, & Chicago settings. It also meant in a weird way that the game was no longer "ours" once the story left the UK; a silly reason to dislike it, but it was still something that detracted from my previous enjoyment as I couldn't relate as easily with the story.

"Resistance 3" is due next year (rumoured to be set in New York as The Statue of Liberty features in the logo) so hopefully a few changes will be made & lessons learned for the next installment.

PS. Did anybody bother with the PSP title "Resistance: Retribution"? You could further your game-play of the PS3 title with progression on the handheld console. I watched a few video trailers & (Royal Marine James Grayson) the lead character's (attempt at a British) accent grated with me too much.

Just curious if anybody else opted for the portable experience at all.

I known this is off-topic but just in case people aren't aware, the DLC for Resistance:Fall of man is now free.
Plus the game is very cheap so if you haven't played it then it is worth a look; it also has a good coherent story (yes MW2 I'm looking at you!).

I played retribution once actually on a eurostar trip to Paris. It definitely wasn't anything special and I sold my psp shortly afterwards.

I like this game, it isn't as gloomy and atmospheric as fom but it has more of a survival horror aspect in that it will pit you up against massive enemies and then leave no ammo to take them down with.

Killzone 2 is visually stunning and a fantastic game but lets be honest...the storyline SUCKED, the dialogue SUCKED (overdone hardman machomen military babble), and the characters jus weren't interesting enough.
Resistance 2 is an awesome game, and if it had the visual effects that K2 had then it certainly would have kicked its assed. The Storyline is awesome and has some amazing boss fights! the gigantic monsters will blow u awayyy.

But they are both 2 awesome games with 2 different style/genres of First Person Shoot-em-ups! pow pow
recommend this!

KZ2 is the best FPS that I have played this year apart from MW2, the visuals were incredible and the AI was spot on (still a unique feature in any game that I know of).

The ending was a bit crap admittedly but that has been the case in most games of this gen so I really don't think that is a valid excuse to slate it.
