I know that a lot of Argos stuff is never in stock, but when i tried this, my local store (Stratford, East London) had 4 in stock.

I don't know if its the Platinum disc or not, it doesn't say either way.
I don't care if it is the Platinum disc, at this price I just want to play the game.
Hope its available for those that might want one.

I think it has been this price at least 4 weeks, as I paid £7-something for my copy in mid-August. Still a great deal though, voted hot from me!

edit: mine was platinum by the way, but at that price who cares!

There always seems to be some comment regarding whether PS3 games are Platinum or not. Haven't actually worked out from the comments as to which is supposedly better. Can anybody tell me what the concern is?

it's just that the case has a yellow line across the front at the top above the normal picture & along the spine.
Couldn't care less, its the game that I'm buying, as long as the disc or the case isn't damaged, that's all I'm bothered about, not a bit of yellow print on the sleeve.

So I take it Platinum is only not preferred due to the packaging. I thought maybe the Platinum (being later) would have been preferred due to including any updates/bug fixes (assuming that happens).

Thanks for clearing that up anyway. Thanks also to 'Daytrader'

I think also that Platinum titles are worth less if you resell them, for example if the title became a classic later on. But not 100% sure about that.

that may be right, but as I'm only gonna pay £7 for this game, I'm not gonna be heartbroken if I only get a fiver for it on e-bay :)

For all those decide to purchase then you may like to know:
1) The DLC which previously cost a few quid is now free.
2) A patch is available which provides rumble/force feedback (ie dualshock support). To install this you must select the online part of the game, obviously the producers considered the game to be perfect so only checks for patches whilst playing online.

...and arguably the (campaign) "story mode" in the original "Resistance: Fall of Man" has an advantage over the second PS3 title in the franchise (the unimaginatively titled), "Resistance 2", because you can play alongside a local co-op partner on the same (split) screen in the first release.

The "story mode" in "Resistance 2" can only be played as a single player experience.

I prefer the online (& offline) multi-player matches in "Resistance: Fall of Man" too.

BFN,

fp.

Must have game, the single campaign is epic!

awesome game, played through twice now, steal at this price. H & R.
keep an ear out for the Scouse & Manc accents when the story progresses! (fighting the Chimera, not each other, obviously).

picked up mine today, it was the platinum case, but I don't care about that. Went into Cex as well.

Cex may well give you less for a platinum title, I don't know as I didn't ask, but they sell them for the same price as non platinum discs.
I wanted to buy Uncharted: Drake's Fortune & both the platinum & standard cover were £12.99 in Cex.
I didn't buy it, as ifs only a extra £2 for a new copy from Play & the cases were very tatty/damaged in Cex.
:)

You should also get Dead Space. Briliant game and, yes quite scary certainly more than say Resident Evil. Resistance:FoM may make you jump a couple of times though.

Game are charging £12.99 for the platinum version and £19.56 for the non-platinum. It is only £4.99 if you get it pre-owned. You can't compare a pre-owned price with a new price in my opinion; I'd prefer to pay the extra £2.50 to get it new!
