It's been said before but I'll say it again, if you don't get the deal you want from your mobile provider, keep trying!

My Vodafone contract is up in January, (24 months 300 mins u/l texts and 250mb data) and I've been trying to find a deal with more data and a lower price.

After scoping out the current best buys, first I tried Vodafone's on-line chat service which was frankly pathetic, and couldn't offer me anything close to GiffGaff's £12 per month offering.

I also tried in store with much the same result. Finally, in desperation, I called 191 and chose the options for "if you're thinking of leaving us". I said I was giving them one last chance before I jumped ship to GiffGaff.

The guy from the retentions team was excellent. He promised not only to match Giffgaff but he reckoned he could beat them.

In the end he offered me 2 deals on Vodafone Red, both with 50% discount.

Both had unlimited minutes and texts, with 3gb 4G data for £11 per month, or 6gb 4G data for 13.50 per month, both for 12 months.

He did stress that this was because I'd been a Vodafone customer for 6 years and the deal wasn't for everyone, but even so it's the best I've seen in the couple of weeks I've been looking, so thought I'd tell folks here about it!

It also seems I can choose 12 months free spotify, now TV, Sky Sports (yuk), or 6 months Netflix as well!

For once Vodafone has made me happy!

Choose Now Tv as your Vodafone Red reward. Its the best value one as its £9,99 a month. Good deal btw. I recently got unl mins unl texts and 10gb with EE for £14pm. Would rather be with vodafone tho and get free Now tv.

While it was a good deal for you it isn't really an openly available deal so i voted cold.

Just hammer away at the network reps as they can do deals and will as they want to keep you.
#5

Have to use similar practice when my Vodafone deal ended. £32 per month and note 4 with unlimited and 7GB data. £100 credit given too. Took me 4 calls to tie down my deal though. £768 - £100 = £668 over 24 months.

Are Vodafone doing Rendition deals now! Wow, they must really be scared of the possibility of BT buying EE.

I didn't post this deal to brag. I posted it to point out that,as Mr Mac says, keep hammering away, politely and firmly.

This was a sim only deal, in case it wasn't clear in my first post.

And Jade, while this may not be a deal for everybody, I hope it can be of use to someone with an existing contract that's due to expire.

Tried retention deals with 2 numbers on my Vodafone account. The agents made no effort to beat any sim only deals which left me no choice but to leave Vodafone.

have 3 contracts with them and all run out in January and they did not offer me any better deals then there standard offering and calling them deals. its always been like that with them. was with o2 before for many years before they changed there policy.

Which is the point of my original post. Keep trying. You may come across the person who can give you a good deal. Make sure you select the I'm leaving option. Be patient, polite and persistent and you may be lucky.

It took me 3 tries.

I got unlimited mins, texts and 4GB of 4G data, 24.00 credit to my bill and handset free with six months free sky sports. For £31 I got Sony Z3 and love it. You just need t haggle, I called up three times.

I understand this and agree, i called vodafone when renewing my sister's and the guy wouldn't budge on the price at all. Hung up and called back and managed to get the bill down to less than what she was paying before, with more minutes/texts/internet and a better phone. Just depends who answers and what kind of mood they are in.

However i just meant i don't see this is a 'deal' as if everyone posted their individual offers when renewing contracts then the site would be full of them and most people won't be lucky enough to get a good call centre agent in a good mood.

O welcome people posting these, as I find them useful as a benchmark when negotiating with Vodafone.

I received a z1 compact, with 5gb data, unlimited calls and texts, plus free Spotify for £24 per month, by quoting someone's retention deal on HUKD.

That was back in April, mind.

yes just because you managed to get a good deal by haggling doesn't mean everyone else will. I tried several times with Vodafone with no luck

I finally managed to get the time to call vodafone and after being passed around a bit as was saying i was leaving them they offered me the following

unlimited call
unlimited text
20gb of data (4G)
300 minutes 0800/0845/0870 (i think these are the dialling codes)
the entertainment options think spottily or sky tv or something for 12 months
just over £20 per month inc vat for a 12 month sim only, thank you OP for putting deal on and everyone for adding to the deal, gave me the confidence to not give in early! (did ask for the first month free, but was had no joy, i am happy with this)

Heat on its way op
