It only has to reach your TV. :?

Note that these wireless ones are not as responsive as the original ones, and munch through your batteries.

That's why you use rechargeable batteries, and keep the charger close by. It's for people who have big TVs and leave their wii on the floor.

Wireless are not as responsive as wired.
The wire is about 1mm thick, hardly "Unsightly".
No i've never heard of rechargables.
What do you recharge your rechargeable batteries with?

I guess if you had your tv mounted on the wall with wii down below or further than 12ft away then this could be considered (as it would be one less wire to go in wall). However it would be more effective just to buy a sensor bar extension cable (they dont exist? well i dont know if they do, if not theres a good product concept with a minor but still existant market!). Alternatively just extend your original extension bar cable which doesnt require a degree in science, this removes the need for batterys with a charger on 24 hour standby.

Further more not even questionning the effectiveness of the wireless alternative, that bar design and size is so far from discrete its stupid. It would of been cheaper for nintendo to make a bar that size, sure - but they considered the customers needs and realised that most people would rather have something small over a slightly chunky bar with a rip of wii blue glow which isnt really the same.

"Wireless are not as responsive as wired. "

It's only to IR LEDs anyway - doesn't matter if it's wireless or not - will not have any effect on performance/responsiveness

If what you're saying is correct, I take back that statement.

I still think that this is a solution to a 'problem' that doesn't exist. :)

I have a wireless sensor bar for my Wii and I found that whilst it didn't affect the responsiveness of the Control it did affect the distance. With the standard sensor bar I could get about 10ft away from the TV with the wireless one I couldn't get any further than 6ft away.

Or - make your own with some brighter IR LEDS...

All the tech info you may need is here somewhere - http://wiibrew.org/index.php?title=Pointing_with_the_Wiimote

also no unsightly wires..

If you had the wires running through the wall to the tele like me then you would have any unsightly wires :whistling:
