That's not what I was asking though, and the PDF you linked to is a list of stores with no other explanation of the scheme :)

I was asking if trading it in would get you more money than selling via eBay for example.

I'm guessing it probably doesn't otherwise lots of people would be trading in to get new SLR equipment rather than just selling their bits on auction sites and forums.

I checked OSD this morning and they have put their prices up from between £10 to £25 extra on all cameras bodies and lenses (I didn't check the other items they sell). I was about to grab at least two lenses but I think I will wait until they come back down in a few weeks time :-(
Voted hot. I've currently got a 450D. I don't know whether to go for this or save and wait for the 5D MkII?

pointless camera for the non professinal.

Actually not true, the real selling point to any camera buff Pro or Non Pro is the full frame sensor, I am by no means Pro but I do consider myself to know a great deal about photography and how to use a SLR.

I bought a 350D when they first came out, and learnt how to use it. I was fortunate enough to spend time with a borrowed 5D MK1 and really saw the benefits of the additional features and the full frame sensor. When I had saved enough for a MK1 I realised with some research that it was due for a revision, so my natural progression would be go for the newer MK2.

The other reason for a non-pro to buy Pro equipment is that if you have the best tools you can't blame them for shoddy results, it gives you a different perspective in your learning curve and you know if something isn't right it's probably your fault and you strive to learn a bit more without making excuses.

Nothing wrong with it for the non-professional.

Some people like the finer things and if you can afford it, there's notthing wrong with this camera.

Be interesting to see what you will be able to pick up a 5D MK1 for in the new year, that is a hell of a camera if it drops under £1000

you can get a 5D MK1 from Canon Outlet on eBay for sub £1000.

Dunno if that helps?

Actually I agree with the OP, Not really much point in paying good money for a camera with great sensor and image processor then sticking a cheap piece of plastic in front of them.

Money you save on missing out on the kit lens you can get a standard 50mm 1.8 with, may not have the focal range but is about five million percent more usefull.

On my 400D, I bought the kit lens, simply because at the time it was about £15 more expensive to buy it with than without. I have taken many decent photos with the kit lens. It taught me that for the shots I take, I tended to use wide angle a lot. I now have upgraded to a wide angle 10-20mmlens and the 50mm lens. If I had only ever used the 55m end, then I would have stuck with just the new 50mm lens, but since I was using the wide angle end a lot, I knew it was worth investing in a wide angle. I occasionally still use the kit lens, especially if I need to travel light and only take one lens. It may not be a great lens, but I don't think it is right to say it is rubbish.

> This is body-only which is a great deal as the kit lens is rubbish.

I wouldn't say that. It might not be a great lens, but it is good for a spare for use when you don't want to use a best lens, or for trying out the camera until you decide what focal length lenses you do want to buy.

Yes not a bad effort, but won't be any really good deals on these for a few months yet I think.

Useful, only a few reviews but they look good. If I didn't have a D40 already I'd have gone for it!
This is a decent company, they actually have a shop in Middlesboro. If you prefer to visit

The fact that it doesn't even have the retailer's logo at the top of the screen would worry me a little.
I'm fairly sure when it was originally posted about a month ago that people got theirs ok.

It's not a great site, but is primarily just a shop owner with a ****** website, don't think there's anything to worry about should it come back again.
