Quidco tracked at £1.02 using codes given in OP, so effectively £24.48.

I was given one of these as a present 2 years ago, dropped one of the knives today on a tiled floor and the blade broke clean off! Not a happy bunny :(

Soon as I saw Richardson Sheffield that killed the deal for me..:x

Bought one of there Titanium range allpurpose knives with a 25 year guarantee, had it less than 3 years and the blade snapped one day whilst cutting onions, the blade had a fault in the metal itself in the handle tang and snapped off just about a few mm into the handle, sent the knife off via the 25 year guarantee to Amifa who took over the richardson sheffield brand a couple of years back, and they decided my knife wasn't due replacement under warranty as it had broken inside the handle due to improper use, I was furious as the knife had only ever had light use for general chopping of vegetables and foodstuffs only, I even kept the knife in its sheaf for proper care of the blade..

I swore never to buy Richardson sheffield ever again, and 25 year guarantees are not worth a light at the end of the day, Amifa just welched out of there part of the guarantee because it wasn't really one of there knives..Cowboy outfit producing cheap and nasty blades and passing them off as quality items with guarantees they have no intention of fulfilling..

Keep away you have been warned, someone else in the thread also had a blade shatter too..So theres my proof..

Excellent!

Been waiting for some just-above-average knives and these look great - thanks for posting.

We bought some Richardson cutlery just for every day sort of use and straight from the off it started to rust badly. We've never had any problems with the equivalent quality IKEA stuff.

I was going to return it under warranty but couldn't be bothered. I'll just never by their stuff again.

Heres my Titanium edged Excel knife which broke about 5mm down the Tang inside the handle, you could quite easily see the fault in the metal where it had snapped..
Notice I kept the original sheaf and the 20 year guarantee stamp on the packaging..
Richardson Sheffield... Cowboy outfit!! They are now no better than cheap and nasty chinese and Indian import knives..

Carazlegs:-

Just wondering also, whilst the packaging says Richardson Sheffield, is the knife ACTUALLY even made in Sheffield anymore - I very much doubt it. Does it say made in UK / Sheffield on the package? Companies like this use the old fashioned image and brand on the packaging to sell us new cheaper imported versions of what was once a very high quality product. I'm just guessing it's come from the far east , probably China.

Please feel free anyone to shoot me down and tell me that this knife is English, made in Sheffield and I will be the 1st to put my hands up in the air and say I was wrong, but somehow I very much doubt it will be.

I see what you mean about your knife, however compared to what I'm using now I'm sure they'll be 100% fine. Even if they break a year down the line, I haven't exactly spent a fortune - £25 for knives that cost 2-3 times more elswhere is cheap and I'm not expecting quality that's going to last a lifetime.

only stupid people buy cheap knives like this.
For 25 quid you can get a victorinox chef's knife that will last a lifetime and be versatile enough for most jobs.

I second the vote for Victorinox knives - they look like the cheapest Ikea knives, but perform very well. The blades are very thin but they still seem to hold a good edge. If you like heavy knives they aren't for you though. There's a reason why they are used in most professional kitchens as the workhorse tool.

That's me then. If only I was as clever as you.

Same.

I guess they fail to notice that these knives are £85-£100 elsewhere, not exactly 'cheap knives'. :whistling:

I had my set delivered today and although Debenhams denotes that in the set you get a 20cm cooks knife you actually get the 15cm cooks knife in the 5-Piece set.
This isn't a problem for me as I already own a 20cm Forme cooks knife, however this may be a factor for some when ordering.
My other reference that I used prior to ordering was lakeland.co.uk which also denotes 20cm knife in this set.

I should add that the block's middle slot is wide and deep enough to house the 20cm knife that I already own.

I have the full set of these knives, they are perfectly weighted, fit in the hand beautifully and hold their edge for ages.
I have dropped one and it didn't break the blade or handle.
I keep mine in the chefs case and they are still in as good as new condition.
Very very happy. :-)

I also have own single one 20cm blade top notch .people advertise expensive staff for stupid money, this performance it's high level no need to blou money for tricky people.
