  Reviews are very mixed for this ranging from 4-9 (however the high scores indicate that some aspects of the game like the "fun" button most people won;t pick up on as it's not detailed in any tutorials). So low reviews apparently aren't playing the game as intended, which is Bugbears fault as they should have signposted functions. DOH.
  
  Anyhow heat added and i'll wait till £15 as just started Skyrim and ME3 so got 2 big time sinks to get through.

  i think if you were going to compare it to those kind of games then thats true but only because its not really similar or going to appeal to that kind of gamer its going to appeal more to people who liked burnout or SplitSecond kind of games instead of the games more focusing on the traditional racing style like forza and gran turismo

  Well considering it currently has 70% on metacritic, I'm not sure what is shocking about it!!
  As another poster mentioned, it seemed the developers omitted to mention to reviewers, or include in tutorials the "fun button".

  It has a rather unique control scheme featuring a drift button that any racer veterans will immediately treat as a handbrake when it's allot more subtle than that, also it encourages you to find a way of permanently keeping your power bar charged during the race by driving on the edge, drifting, taking down other opponents burnout style and smashing through preset areas on the track. I really didn't like it to begin with but stuck at it and found it very addictive once I'd nailed the controls.

  If only it was as exciting as Rage Racer on the PS1! The Ridge Race series lost its way after that and has never fully recovered.

  single player is great online doesnt work very well and is very dead. me and 3 of my mates were trying to join eachother in a race and werent able to get more than 2 of us in the lobby even when playing a private match, shame really as it was a good game.
  
  I will pick it up again if they ever sort out the online just hope it wont be dead by the time they do.
