The videos on the site shouldn't be allowed as they don't represent the footage the Ring Door Bell actually captures

That solar sign is ridiculous.

it has a 720p camera on it. A lot of the vids are from actual users doorbells.

I have the Ring video doorbell and Chime unit. Best money I have spent on a home gadget. Actually caught a burglar looking through my porch as 3am.

And yes the videos are excellent, even at night.

Also you can change the doorbell to spooky sounds for Halloween.

The solar sign is more an American thing. Their burglar alarm companies all supply yard signs. I dont feel that advertising the bell is an issue. If someone were to steal it, RIng will replace free of charge, plus the footage of who stole it you would have in your account. It has special security screws to protect it too

it's a few pennies cheaper from Amazon (granted, you don't get the silly sign)

lol this is a really good deal, and yet in true HKUD style, the haters vote cold. It would have to be free before it got a hot!

not really to show off, no. Its would put any would be intruders off. They must be being used, otherwise sales would dry up and they would discontinue them, and its not really much different to have a car on the drive, is that showing off too, or a burglar alarm bell box that says that a person spent several hundred pounds.

Lucy, apart from the 'gay' sign as you put it., have you found it useful, do you like it? Has it even helped stop someone?

So when mr intruder comes to your front door and sees your Ring.com buzzer he will know your out as soon as your voice rigs out saying you cant get to the door because your "busy".?

I just got one this week and already used it 4 times to ask people to leave parcels rather than have to go and get them from the post office... also very handy for telling when the kids really get home and proving it to them!
#14
lol have you seen the videos, the real ones from other peoples bells. this works! if you dont like the idea, why take the time to comment and bitch about it, just move on

p.s. I bought from Amazon warehouse where there's 20% off so paid about £90

He would know you were out by ringing a normal doorbell and you failing to answer.

because you can see who it was. they dont have to ring the bell for it to detect whats happening and record it.

These vids say everything IMO

Great if you have the cash to spare, if not and if you have a bit of time, try making one with a raspberry pi for a fraction of this price.

Yep i did this. Well a bit more simplistic...hooked a camera up and then when the doorbell is pressed it sends a picture to my phone

Installed recently; replacing old door bell ( hard wired) works fine with wifi ( gate would be ok if you phone picks up your Wifi network from there ) I d stick to less than 50 yards) EASY TO INSTALL!

People slating this bell- obviously haven't been burgled- never heard of burglars ringing door bell just to find out if anyone is in; you can talk via door bell any in the world with internet connection on phone (3G or higher I guess)

So yea, if you wanna talk to person ringing door bell if you are home or not- get one; one MAJOR DRAG- have to pay £25 month for cloud video recording! COME ON RING- cut the subscription- and sell more units!

Yes and have you seen the shape of actual users videos (on YouTube not Ring.com) compared to the shape of the promotional videos on their website, looks like everyone lives in a lighthouse

Is it really £25 per month as I have been reading up on the website and I'm sure it says £24.99 per year?

I pay $30 a year for mine! I did buy from US though when it first came out, so maybe that's why i'm billed in $.

Congratulations and thank you for signing up for Cloud Video Recording. All events captured by your Ring Doorbell will be saved in your call log for up to six months. You can watch and save videos, and even share them with others.

Plan type: yearly

Paid: $30.00

i have expired the deal seeing as people were just bitching about it rather than just being constructively critical.

I love my ring. Very useful to see who is coming to the door, when items are delivered / collected, when the TV licence salesman is trying to again sell me something I don't want or need.. Great for fact verification of so many things. Here's an example of where it's useful, and avoiding items being delivered to neighbours:

You're right! Here in the UK the solar sign is either going to get stolen, laughed at, or the neighbours will think I'm a ponce or they'll get paranoid that they're being recorded too and they'll think it's against the law and bla bla bla.. so I erected the sign and then removed it after 5 minutes of having second thoughts. Love my ring though.

you could use it in the back garden mate, that way it doesnt goto waste, and any potential burglars coming from the back of the house will be put off. Have to say that despite all these bitchy comments, my ring doorbell is up, working great the picture quality is superb. money well spent.
